I rarely use an electric dog treadmill for running dogs, i prefer a slat mill or using an open field and a toy, or even having them run next to a bicycle!
I LOVE to use an electric treadmill for working dogs brains and bodies and isolating more advanced proprioception exercises!

Anatomy Of A Safe Play Session With Jack + Penelope:
❎ Jack is fully comfortable on the other side of the gate from Penelope. He knows he’s safe on that side, he can get space if he needs and knows how to move away from the gate on his own if he starts to get uncomfortable, he’s shown he’s totally relaxed on that side and will happily sleep or hang out on that side with no stressful body language regardless of what Penelope does on the other side.
✴️ Nev’s favorite game during play is to bounce around Jack, chase after him while he chases his own toy, and then beat him with her toy🤣🤷♀️ She doesn’t care about what Penelope is doing and true to Nev’s independent nature doesn’t “need” a human to play and have fun, she’ll do it all on her own.
❎ Jack understands to start the game he wants to play (fetch) he has to give the toy to the person. He doesn’t really like play on his own, he wants to play with a person (that he can trust!)
❎ Jack knows the “bring” command in this picture means to put the toy over the gate
🎀 Penelope knows in order to get Jack to “bring” the toy (which she will sign for if he doesnt😂) she has to “give him space!!” which means back away from the gate
🎀 Penelope knows how to throw the toy over the gate “big throw Penny!!”
Rinse + repeat until dogs and child are tired😂
⚠️ Safety Commands I Can Use With Jack If Penelope Doesn’t Follow The Rules Of The Game (she’s a toddler, trust me, it happens😂)
➡️ “Back!” means immediately start taking steps backward
➡️ “Down” means immediately go into your down no matter where you are, half on a bed, half tangled with Nev, mid jump to grab a toy, doesn’t matter we have proofed this command extensively. The wait/stay is implied.
➡️ “Out” spit out whatever is in your mouth
➡️ “Place” his bed is intentionally far enough back and away from the gate i can send him to that as a safety measure
We have day train or private lesson options available to teach your dog how to paddle board! Reach out to us with questions or to schedule a session!🏄♂️🐾
Some foundation skills you can start to practice at home:
👉 Place: first on stable surfaces, then on unstable surfaces, then on your paddle board at home! Practice duration and distractions for this command at home before bringing it to the water
👉 Middle, Sit, and Down: practice these positions on the flat (ground) first, then on more unstable surfaces like a couch or ottoman, then practice them on your paddle board at home! Work on duration and distractions for these commands as well.
👉 Swimming/Water Confidence in general
👉 Practice your dog wearing and getting comfortable in their life vest!
Experienced dog paddle boarders what else would you suggest a newbie should practice or be prepared for when going paddle boarding for the first time with their dog?!

Foundational Leash/Walking Skills 🦮
Ideally before moving to the next step of a 6ft leash these are the skills I’m looking for a dog to have and understand!
✅ Offered check ins/engagement
✅ Understanding of a reinforcement zone/eventual heel position
✅ Enough awareness that if I keep moving the dog moves with me past a sniff/distraction on their own
✅ Same goes if they’re ahead of me and I stop walking they notice/check back in
✅ If they do hit the end of their leash they understand it’s communication and come back to handler (ideally to reinforcement zone)

The progress Kage is making on not only his physical strength, balance, and proprioception but also his mental confidence is just so freaking rewarding to see. I absolutely love getting to work with clients long term and building these dogs up to be the absolute best version of themselves!💪🐾🤩
We LOVE getting to take your dogs out for training field trips during the week! It’s like a dog walker, but next level 🤘🤩
Give us your over the top, too much, (absolutely amazing in our opinion) dogs and let us work their brains + bodies! We’ll drop back off a biologically fulfilled, happy, and calm dog for you to enjoy when done with work that day!☺️🐾
Got a young puppy who needs some extra help with proper socialization? We can take them out to dog friendly stores, busier urban environments, hiking trails, etc to safely expose (not necessarily interact!) with the world around them!
Reach out via email, text or call us to plan a day train field trip that would benefit your dog and their training most!
