After the loss of a best friend, many families are unsure when is the "right" time to adopt a new pet. On the blog today, we offer our support protocol for the role you can play in this process. Allowing clients to bake their print at home offers an added level of comfort. Leaving with an unbaked print can provide clients with the opportunity to personalize their print on their own, in their own way. No matter how they choose to decorate the print, the acts of decorating and baking become part of the healing process. It's ok if you are unable to bake on site. By providing the print, you are able to provide the first step for clients to heal from such a great loss!

Today, on our blog, we share the story of "Buddy". When World by the Tail was smaller, we sent demos to first time clients, practices and crematories. We wanted a paw print in the demo to show a finished product. Enter "Buddy", better known to us as Sam. Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, celebrates the life of our beloved best friends who are waiting for us until we can be together again. Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Sam. You didn't know Sam, but you might have seen, held or may even still have Sam's paw print. And that is Sam's Legacy! He inspired countless people to celebrate and honor the bond we have with our "Buddy".

30 years ago our co-founder, Laurel Lagoni, explained the importance of a space designed for client comfort. In her book, "The Human-Animal Bond and Grief," she and her co-authors discuss the importance of these rooms specifically for client-present euthanasias. 30 years later, we still believe these rooms communicate to your clients that your honor their bond, without having to say a word! In our most recent blog post, we discuss how to create a comfort room on the go for when your space may be limited as well as provide a list of items to stock these rooms. In our resource center, make sure you check out our free staff handout on the importance of comfort rooms in your bond-centered practice. Because we believe, that when it matters most, no person should leave a room empty handed.
