It was a perfect bluebird day at our farm today, and Cav and I knocked the rust off over prelim fences (dislocating your shoulder at the peak of prep season really screws with plans, in case you guys didn’t realize!) as we gear up for next weekend. He and I weren’t foot perfect today, but practice makes better- and I’m loving this journey with this special Irish boy. ☘️❤️
Hugo, or Hue-potamus, is settling in well! He’s gaining weight, and loving evening turnout. Banks is his best friend, but sometimes Banks is dismayed by Hugo’s lack of tidiness. 🤣
Yesterday was a lovely, breezy day to school cross country! Had a lovely time popping around spring gulch with some friends. We are working hard to get fitter, stronger, and better for the super fun season ahead!
The wind today was unreal- 40+ mph sustained winds for 8+ hours are exhausting, both for us and the horses. Thankful for a barn that, while not wind-proof, provides shelter and security for 30 horses in our 26 stalls. Yes, we doubled a few up- they get along well, especially since we feed more hay than they can eat, and we want them all to have shelter from these storms!
This horse is rapidly becoming my favorite- Cavvie is not only healing my heart, but letting me dream again too… and that’s a magical feeling! We built this skinny chevron today as part of our new Arena Eventing course, and measured everything carefully to have options at BN, Novice, Training, Prelim, and Intermediate heights… he just popped right over the Intermediate height like he was born for this. ♥️
It’s snowy outside and it’s too cold to ride- but I’m looking forward to more fun jump schools like this one! 3’8” over, no problemo. How I got so lucky to pick the right Irish horse, sight unseen, I’m not quite sure. 😍
Loving our indoor arena, especially on days like today in NoCo! If you’re looking for somewhere to ride year-round, don’t hesitate to reach out- we have some availability for haul-in riders, and a couple of full care boarding spaces open as well.
Day one of grids was a success! We all had a blast- and baby stallion is figuring out how his legs can move in a coordinated way!
We have a ROOF! The indoor arena is nearing the “fully enclosed” state- just some clear panel left! Then it’ll be the finishing touches and we’ll be able to ride in the SHADE!
The indoor has walls and roll-up doors! 🤩 Anything that doesn’t have white metal on the walls will be clear- 4’ down the north (long) wall, and both gable (peak) ends. I’m already OBSESSED with the doors- they tuck away neatly into a roll when not in use, meaning they don’t obscure light, nor do they hang overhead. Loving the details we chose in partnership with Alpine Building Solutions- they really make the biggest difference in elevating this facility into a really classy place. 😍
Half of the indoor trusses are up! The guys have been working tirelessly to get us set up ASAP- and I’m so excited to have almost all our stall material on order, as well! The snow, however, we could live without. 🙃
These ears are the cutest, even when attached to a slightly spooky gelding 😍 Just “swiped” the CC online for our first prelim of the year- AZ here we come! #sunshine #eventing #hacksfordays #cutestbayears #artichoke
