The Fort Madison Parks, Recreation and Docks Board were looking for a way to repurpose two unused slow pitch softball fields at Fort Madison's Rodeo Park. Citizens had previously suggested a dog park and it seemed a natural fit to turn one of the softball fields into a dog park. The location featured already had a parking area and playground equipment located on the other side of the road.

Our awesome dog park that was built in coordination between our amazing Canine Corral Dog Park Fundraising Committee, the City of Fort Madison and a ton of our community donors have the chance to be recognized for their efforts!

Thank you to the anonymous donor that contributed $10,000 to the park!! We are in our final stages of completing this amazing new addition to our great city and are looking for a few able bodied volunteers to help with some much needed tasks!
We will be constructing two beautiful and much needed shelter houses around the end of October so if you able please let Donna know at 319-470-4881 or message her here!
Also, we are in need of a little landscaping help like mulching in our trees before winter so if you have a few buddies or just yourself we would appreciate your help at a soon to be scheduled park clean up day! Just give Donna a shout!

Spring has spring and our beautiful pooch park is seeing lots of visitors! Please keep in mind this is an off leash dog park for well behaved and social dogs only!
If your pooch isn’t trustworthy and trained to be social this is not the park for him or her as we don’t want anyone to get injured or even worse, so please mind the rules posted on the front safety gates so we can all enjoy this beautiful fun park!
If you and your pooch encounter an aggressive dog please call the Fort Madison PD and make sure you get info if there is an injury.
Stay safe pooches and their people! ❤️🐕

All 10 benches have been sponsored!!! Wooohoooo!!!

Thank you so much to all the wonderful dog loving contributors that have helped us reach this milestone so quickly!❤️❤️❤️

We have also been so blessed with the help of the DNR to be receiving all the trees we want and then some so yayyyy for the pooches and their owners who will hopefully have plenty of shade in the years to come! 🌳 🌳

Our capital campaign will be kicking off soon to get the rest of what we want and need for this awesome city park so please consider a donation no matter how small.

We still need concrete pathways. It’s going to be a muddy mess in the winter and we want our humans to be able to access it all year around, and we want it to be ADA accessible so everyone can enjoy it!😍

Shout out to Kevin Bates from Bates Construction and Byron at Brockman's Ready Mix in Fort Madison for adding some last minute touches before our Grand Opening! The pooches absolutely love these huge piles of clean sand to dig to China in!!
