Meet the perfect man, Dougie!

He’s smart, caring, handsome and searching for the love of his life.

Dougie originally came in to the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter as a stray back in October of 2019. He waited and waited for his family to come and find him and take him home but that never happened.

Dougie is as sweet as they come, a very affectionate cuddle bug with tons of love to share, but he is simply not a fan of other animals. You see, Dougie has a high prey drive which requires management by an experienced dog person.

Dougie walks very nicely on a leash and can pass other dogs with no issues while out on a walk, but off leash, if he gets out of a yard loose, he will run after any animal he sees.

Dougie needs an active home where he can exercise on a daily basis. A very special mom and dad — a savvy, experienced, strong, and patient individuals who ars committed to him and will put in the time needed to teach him the ropes of life and help him become the best he can be.

Dougie will do best as the only pet in an adult only household with a secure six-foot high fenced in yard. He is 64 pounds, estimated to be about 9 years young, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, micro-chipped and heartworm negative. He is housebroken, knows his basic commands, and is crate trained.

We really can’t say enough about what an affectionate loving guy he is! Dougie is an all around amazing dog with a lively personality. He is very people oriented, eager to please and very intelligent. Could you be the one to make his wish come true?

URGENT LIST - CLAYTON COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL,JONESBORO, GA. These precious dogs MUST have rescue commitment by 1 pm on Thursday, March 2 or face being euthanized for space. Clayton County Animal Control is a KILL shelter under the Clayton County Police Dept and direct leadership of Captain Jodi Turnipseed. All decisions regarding rescues, adoptions or which dogs are euthanized are made by them. We are an advocate group that tries to raise funds to help rescues be able to vet, house, transport and care for the dogs until they find permanent placement. We are not a rescue and do not pull dogs or make any decisions about who pulls. This is strictly up to the shelter. (Ga licensed rescues are routinely monitored by DOA). Funds are tax deductible. Fundrazr links are posted in each individual fundazr and below. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to help these wonderful dogs get out of the shelter and have a second chance. We would like to give a HUGE shoutout to Bowzee Wowzee Pet Day Care & Lodging for their love & care of Dodger the past couple months! When his foster mama went into labor and we had no options of places for him to go they gladly stepped up and offered to have him come stay there as long as we needed. Their amazing staff has helped him settle in & feel right at home. THANK YOU!💙

Please welcome Debo to the adoption floor! Debo arrived to the shelter as a surrender when his owner was no longer able to care for him. At intake he had wounds, sores, and infections. It took us a bit to get him healthy enough to come to the adoption floor, but he's here now, just in time for the New Year.
Debo is a 5 year old bully breed. He is around 60 pounds. He has done well meeting new dogs at the shelter.
We are looking for a family to continue his journey to enjoying a healthy, loving life.

We got so many people saying how cute our Christmas crew was yesterday- meet their mom!
This is Christmas. She is a 4 year old sweetheart. She took good care of her babies and it is her turn to be in the spotlight! Her eyes will melt your heart but so will her gentle and kind personality!
When a tiny little orange kitten needed a mom, Christmas took that baby (Dasher) and fed him and cared for him like her own.
Now it is her turn to be pampered and loved on!
