Today we got 5 month checkups and have beautiful heartbeats and spines on our first 2 due!

It is absolutely fascinating to watch herd dynamics! The red mare in these photos is the c**t’s BIOLOGICAL mother (she has never had a foal herself. 2025 will be her first). The bay mare is the c**ts BIRTH mother (recip). They (4 bred mares and 2 mom with their babies) have only been introduced as a herd for 4 days.

I watch the birth mother keep the bio mom at arms length, the bio mom respects her and distance but is consistently drawn to the c**t.

As of today the birth and bio mom are with each other a lot and the c**t is allowed with both of them!

I feel like I get to watch the nature channel all day 🥰
