Are you bored inside with nothing else to do with your best friend? Try trick training. YouTube the trick you want to teach your dog and get busy.
Most dogs really just crave your attention what better way to show it then investing time & love ❤️ into your dog.
Maybe you just need to work on your basic training skills what better way to practice inside where you are in control. Yes you are going to have to move your training outside at some point but wait until the weather gets better. Enjoy your time with your dogs.

When times are tough hug your dog, when times are even tougher hug your dog. When life is easy and life is going your way...hug your dog. It’s free love’n that you always get more than you paid for.

With the Easter bunny getting ready to hop down the bunny trail...don't forget your furry friends can not eat out your Easter basket. Chocolate can be deadly to your pet. 🐰🐇🐣

Get everyone on board when training your dog. The better you and your family communicate everyone will be able to communicate the same way with your dog.

Example: If your dog jumps up on your guests and you use the right correction and say "OFF " but other members are giving a different (wrong) command " Down" and then your kids encourage the jumping & kissing it's very confusing to your dog.

Remember training your dog 5-15 minutes a day everyday will re-enforce your dog in a positive way consistently rather than 1X for 30 minutes. Your dog wants to please you unconditionally. Keep in mind training does take time and patience...like all good things worth working towards.

Quick tip: reward with a variety of treats. Carrots & green beans are always a great go to treat the dogs like the o chew them an zero calories so you won't create a dog with a weight problem ( not an easy problem to tackle)

Just a friendly reminder with the July 4th holiday upon us.

If your dog is fearful of people coming close to them, look for the signs of distress before people start to come to close. Head lower, tail between legs, growling, all signs of a not so happy dog. This will help you stop a bite from happening.

With Halloween on Saturday, PLEASE remember to keep all candy out of your dogs reach!!! If your little Fido is wearing a costume make sure it fits OK, as so things do restrict movement on your dog. REMEMBER always keep your dog on a leash while trick or treating. You know your dog is not scary but others don't

It's important to always train your dog when you have guests at your house. Example: my friend came over, I asked my dogs to sit & stay. One did one didn't. That is when you train your dog, my friend didn't mind me stopping to "fix" my dog. A little training goes a long way.

Small training sessions are always better than NO training at all. 10mins here and there works up to a whole lot of good dog!

10/23/2009

Even dog trainer's have bad days!!! I had mine at 4:30am with my Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. Chased a critter, got stuck in a snake pit/pile and I was in my slippers woke half the neighborhood up! rise and shine!

10/19/2009

Please feel free to post some of your best dog photo's here! I love to see a good Halloween dog!

With the weather change your dog may change too. Mine do!!! I think in a good way, others might not. Lucy is more high energy with the cool weather. Try not to punish this but redirect the behavior. the cool feels good to them like it does to us so it's their way of showing they like it! just redirect, more walks, dog park so they can blow off steam and not get in trouble!

Just a reminder with the Halloween holiday around the corner keep ALL candy out of your dogs reach. None of it is good for them but chocolate is deadly.

10/08/2009

Does your dog chew on things that are not her toys? This is a sign of a bored dog. They need to exercise the brain just like we do. This is anther reason Training is so good for dogs! It Makes them think and work out.

Dental care is an important part of dog ownership. Doing it yourself is more cost effective. However not all dogs let you brush there teeth. You should also take your dog in to your vet once a year for a good cleaning.

09/20/2009

Going to a dog park can be great fun for you and your dog. Be sure you have a good recall installed in your dog before going to the dog park. Other dog owner don't love your dog like you do and if your dog gets out of control you need to get control real fast. But not frantic! Always stay cool, calm collected when possible dogs pick up on your energy!

09/19/2009

Grooming is always important. It has 2 purposes. 1 you and your dog get to bond everyday and trust is built from that daily. 2 your shedding is cut down by half or more and they have better skin & blood flow because of that grooming!

09/18/2009

Walk your dog everyday. at least 20 mins or more. than you will have a happy dog.
