UPDATE: Winston adopted.

Young Winston arrived with a shaggy matted coat but thanks to staff he’ll be leaving tidy and trimmed. You can’t imagine how many dogs arrive in this condition and much worse.

We’re sure Winston will find a home shortly after the shelter opens and we know his next owner will understand the need for brushing and regular trips to the groomer.

Good Luck Winston on your next journey and remember Winston, the different between a good haircut and a bad one is only 3 weeks 😅.

Pumpkin Spice and her newborn puppies arrived at LCDAS in September. We’re very grateful to Team Moose Rescue for taking this adorable family into their rescue and finding homes for the puppies. Now Mama dog needs a home and we’re counting on our Friends fans to spread the word.

Spice is about 2 years old, loves to go for long walks and is very sociable and loving. She’s been in a foster home with other dogs including a very large mastiff and has fit right in. She’s been confident, accommodating, adaptable and grateful in her foster homes.

Spice needs a foster-to-adopt or better yet an adopter. Contact www.teammooserescue.org for any questions and an adoption application.

UPDATE: Radar, Piper and Winston adopted.

Despite the fact that on Saturday fees were waived with an approved application, these little nuggets failed to find a home.

All are very lovable, personable and seem to be dog friendly with the possible exception of Gordon who is a little selective with his doggie friends. Gordon does though win the prize for his unique breed mix, good looks and lovable demeanor.

If you’re looking for a small dog stop by the shelter on Monday to meet(pictured clockwise)
Lizzy, Gordon, Piper, Radar and havanese/poodle mix Winston.

The small desirable dogs will probably steal the show today and once again this gentle, good natured soul will patiently wait yet another day for his time to be noticed and walk out the door with the proud distinction of having been ADOPTED!

Frank is estimated to be about 5 years old and thought to be a chocolate lab mix. He arrived at LCDAS with some spotty hair loss which with good nutrition and a lot of TLC will grow back. After his neuter surgery he developed a scrotal hematoma which with time will heal and the swelling go down. Poor Frank has the cards stacked against him with his current appearance 😔.

Frank is potty trained, dog friendly, extremely well mannered and has a very calm, friendly demeanor.
Please stop by the shelter and consider adopting Frank.

Shelter dog Laz invites you to stop by LCDAS tomorrow first and foremost to visit him but also to enjoy the Pet Fest event!

Laz, easily the most well mannered dog on the adoption floor has been at the shelter for exactly 1 month!

A volunteer took him for an outing today and she said he lived up to his reputation as a perfect gentleman. She described him as chill, laid-back and would thrive in a home with another calm dog.

Please come meet our boy Laz!

Mirabelle won the hearts of every volunteer here at LCDAS. She was older, HW+ and unfortunately lingered on the adoption floor until her lucky day arrived and she was adopted by a very nice family. They messaged us an update:

“Mirabelle (now Belle)was adopted on 10/8. We had a DNA test done on her beautiful self. The results are 53% German Shepherd Dog, 39% American Akita, 3% Alaskam Malamute, 3% American Eskimo Dog, 1% Catahoula Leopard Dog and 1% Doberman Pinscher. Ultimately, she is our 100% adorable girl and we love her!

She has a brother, Storm, that adores her. She loved her morning walks to the beach. Due to her current heartworm treatment there won’t be long walks for a few weeks more yet. So, I've been working on obedience with her instead!”

We are so grateful that Belle got the best possible home and we offer up a huge thanks to her adopters!

UPDATE: Bailey has been adopted!

As the volunteers were leaving yesterday we saw this face. While big Bailey has a very big kennel it’s still not like being in a home with people to love and a cozy 🛋️.

Arriving so early yesterday, we were able to identify the dogs that are potty trained, including Bailey, whose kennel was clean after having his last out at 3:30 on the previous day.
This big guy may not be for everyone but we know there’s someone out there that will be a perfect match!

This 100lb American Bulldog bundle of love and energy is available for adoption at
