We think all our fans remember Arlo. We posted him many times and after 3 months at the shelter he was still overlooked. That’s when Big Dog Ranch came to his Rescue and took our beloved Arlo and numerous other dogs from LCDAS.

One of our volunteers who was among his greatest admirers went to visit him yesterday and he remembered her! We’re glad he’s safe, comfortable and able to live and play with other dogs!
Thank you Big Dog Ranch and thank you to volunteer Connie for visiting him 🥰.

We love the underdogs, the misfits and the ones that are overlooked. None of the dogs on the adoption floor are perfect including these three boys.

Rodney has trouble keeping all four feet on the ground because he wants to wrap the front two around us for love and attention.

Wilbur will always be a mischievous, impulsive, goofy puppy and will need a patient, watchful human that can use reward and love based training techniques.

Teddy is higher energy but has so many positive qualities! He’s been in the kennel environment for a couple months now so will need patience in a home setting and clear direction as to where he should go potty.

Please give one of these very deserving dogs a chance as a Weekend Warrior, a rescue, or an adoption.

They are at Lee County Domestic Animal Services. 5600 Banner Dr. Fort Myers, FL.

UPDATE: Tinker was adopted.

Tinker is still patiently waiting for a home. She’s a volunteer/staff favorite with her gentle, quiet and sweet disposition. She’s only 24lbs, seems to be potty trained and is guessed to be a dachshund/terrier mix.

As we always say if you have another dog please bring them in to meet any dog that you are considering and also bring all the human family members.

UPDATE: Rose and Timmy adopted.

On this first day of Spring which represents renewal, rebirth and new beginnings we are very grateful that these 2 very special dogs are getting a new start in life.

Tiny Timmy is only a year old, a bit afraid but ready to blossom in a caring, loving home.

Rose is 7 years old, was used for breeding and is overweight. We know there are Golden fans out there that will help her reach a healthy weight and provide her with a stable home.

The many faces of Teddy! We love this spirited, adventurous little guy and are hoping he is soon adopted or checked out as a Weekend Warrior!

He likes other dogs and we found out he also likes the water( check out the video of him playing with Jupiter in comments). We’re sure that if checked out for the day or as a WW, he’d enjoy a trip to the beach.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day from Teddy the only dog on the adoption floor that even remotely looks and acts Irish. He likes to have fun, is a bit of a joker and after a long day of play he enjoys a drink(of water).

But Teddy has not had the luck of the Irish 😞. He’s been at the shelter for 2 months and during that time adopted out 3 times and returned through no fault of his own.

He’s higher energy and would ideally enjoy a home with a fenced yard. He’s very dog friendly with other playful dogs. He’s under 40 lbs, has started to enjoy going for longer walks and loves relaxing outside with a frozen Kong.

Maybe his lucky 4th 🍀 will be his forever home! Please take a chance on Teddy!

He’s available for adoption at

To end the day, here's one last beautiful update that we recently received:

"I hardly see any posts about adopters that have had their LCDAS baby this long so I wanted to share! I adopted Ellie in 2013, while I was a college student. She has been with me through marriage, kids, many different homes and life changes. We can’t imagine our lives without her! She is the sweetest, most loyal girl. Forever grateful to LCDAS."

Brutus was on the adoption floor for a nanosecond and was quickly adopted. His new family saw something special about Brutus and we’re glad they did! We know you’ll enjoy scrolling through these photos and be sure to watch the video in comments.

“We adopted Brutus, now Bruce, at the beginning of November. He has settled in so wonderfully. He is the biggest snuggle bug and loves loves loves making human friends. Almost every day is Christmas for him as I work at a pet store.🫣 He loves all kinds of puzzle toys and getting backyard zoomies with his all time favorite, the JollyBall! He’s also a fast learner for trick training. He loves our cats (even though they don’t love him as much). Really so far the only thing he doesn’t love is teeth brushing. 🤣 Otherwise he’s overall a big meatball of happiness. We’re so glad we wandered into the shelter one lucky day and came out with him. He’s a perfect fit! 🩵”

Bruce you look so handsome in glasses!

We got an update on our big, gentle giant Sven. This family also adopted Lionel, now Atlas from LCDAS in September 2023 and Pink now Athena.

“We adopted Sven (now Apollo) back in December and thought we’d update you and share some good news we’ve learned!

Apollo has made himself right at home and loves to snuggle up on the couch with his new siblings. He’s the biggest baby you could ever imagine. He’s constantly looking for a comfy spot for a nap and when he’s got a little kick of energy, him and his brother roughhouse like there’s no tomorrow until they’re both tired enough to sleep for days🤣 He LOVES his big backyard and sunbathing, but wouldn’t be caught dead in the rain🤣

Right before Christmas, he decided it would be a good idea to take some ornaments off the tree while mom went to the bathroom… when we took him for an xray (came back clean, he was perfectly fine!) it showed he had open growth plates. The shelter estimated his age at 3 years old, but the open growth plates and baby teeth shows he’s only about 6-9 months! He came into the shelter with Olaf, his brother, and we’ve been trying to find his parents since learning this good news! We can’t thank LCDAS enough for giving us yet again the perfect addition to our family!”

We couldn’t be happier to hear that these 3 LCDAS alumni are loved and thriving in their forever home!

14 week old Curr mix puppies Loretta and Lynn are very gentle, meek and lovable. They are currently about 20lbs but if the size of their paws are any indication they will grow up to be bigger dogs.

Casanova was adopted in February and was just returned; apparently the resident dog didn’t like him. We were told that he did well with the adopter’s small children, is potty trained, and is an all-around great little dog!
