Brandy our longest stay dog on the adoption floor was adopted last month but was returned yesterday due to her being too much energy for the adopter. To say the least both volunteers and staff were deeply saddened and disappointed especially since she had just gotten her 2nd heartworm injection and really needs to be in the comfort of a home not a shelter.

We love her energy, comical antics, funny faces and her everyday joyful attitude! Now here she is back in the same old kennel that she had occupied for over 5 months starting all over again in her quest to find a home.

Yesterday we held her head and told her we were sorry and those big soulful eyes looked at us as if to say “don’t cry for me, I’m strong, resilient, patient and adaptable”.

Brandy is depending on us to help her find a good home and we’re depending on you Lee County to spread the word.

Sadie’s name was Joanna when at LCDAS and she lingered on the adoption floor until BHBD’s came to her rescue. All the volunteers here at LCDAS have fond memories of her! Please contact Big Hearts for Big Dogs Rescue, fill out the application and ask to meet Sadie.

Eric was at LCDAS back in September(these photos are of him when he was at LCDAS). He was a high energy, busy guy with a very personable, lovable personality.
He was starting to loose weight and that’s when GCHS stepped in and took Eric providing him with the medical care he needed. This is what GCHS has to say about Eric:

Great Pyrenees Grover would like you to come to LCDAS and meet him and 7 of his other homeless friends. Grover is a little over a year old and is extremely well mannered and intelligent. His kennel card notes that anyone interested in adopting him be experienced with the breed.

New to the floor are puppies Jack and Jill, Bull terrier mix Wendy and Rosie who looks like a smaller dog. When we arrive at the shelter this morning we’ll post photos and more info on their personalities.

UPDATE: Dex was adopted today!

We’re big believers in not judging a book by its cover and in turn not picking a dog just on the basis of their looks. Dex is a little yellowed and calloused likely from being an outdoor dog. Based on his looks you might just walk right by his kennel and not look back.

We look at Dex and see a vivid picture of him in a loving home with a beautiful white, shiny coat perched on your couch.
He’s got a lovable demeanor, seems to be dog friendly and is well mannered. Come meet this underdog and fall in love 🥰!

We like this boy even though we’ve never met him. We can tell by his face and the sparkle in his eyes that he’s a good boy! This is what GCHS has to say about Remi:

“I am a big beautiful boy weighing about 74 pounds! I’m a protective guy who bonds quickly but I do take some time to warm up to new people and get used to being around them. When I do, I’ll be your best friend.

I’m a big old goofball and have energetic moments where I get excited and just wanna bounce around and play but I know how to calm down and be a cuddly couch potato. I am a staff favorite and being in the shelter system since April 2023 I am more than ready to finally find my forever home. I am heartworm positive and need a home to help get me happy and healthy. Please come see me at Gulf Coast Humane Society.”
