Is your pet scooting or licking their rear? It could be their a**l glands.

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

Soft, consistent stool, as well as allergies, are common causes of irritation. If your pet is scooting, licking excessively, or showing signs of discomfort around their rear end, contact us! We will help to identify the cause and determine the best course of treatment.

With tomorrow being Hairball Awareness Day, we wanted to remind our cat parents about the importance of preventing hairballs.

Accumulated from excessive grooming, hairballs can build in your cat’s digestive system and either get coughed up or in some cases, need surgical removal.
If your cat is excessively vomiting, lethargic, loses their appetite, or has diarrhea or constipation, these may be signs of a blockage and you should contact our team immediately.

Today was a very sad day for our staff. We had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to our special boy, our resident hospital cat, Jimmy Dean.

After losing his sister, Lainey in February, Jimmy Dean's health slowly started to fail. He was a trooper who fought hard, but unfortunately his frail little 18 year old body couldn't fight any longer.

We are grieving his loss but feel comforted knowing that we gave him all the love we possibly could during the time he was with us. Rest in sweet peace, Jimmy Dean. Although you were with us for just a short while, you touched our hearts so deeply. You will be missed.🐾❤😢🌈

Did you know that UTIs are common in pets?

Just like for humans, urinary tract infections occur when bacteria travel up into the bladder and reproduce.

If your pet is exhibiting symptoms of a UTI, consult your veterinarian. Not only is a treatment protocol important to follow, but further testing may need to be conducted as certain urinary tract disorders can mimic a UTI.
