Thoughts of a pet stylist.
Subject. Elderly dogs.

I as a pet groomer love older senior citizen dogs.
There’s something about them that warms my soul.
I want nothing more than to make every dog I groom look their very best.
However! With senior dogs I don’t.

Of course I believe they deserve to look their best! But am I going to stress them out to make them look like they did in their prime?
Absolutely not.

That saying you can teach an old dog new tricks. Doesn’t apply to grooming them.

If they don’t like something well alrighty then we aren’t doing that.
If you want me to push your dog who has done nothing but be loyal. Caring. And loving towards you as it’s owner to the point of discomfort for a HAIRCUT! Then I’m not the groomer for you.

Imagine taking your 90 year old grandmother to a salon. And expecting them to make her hair look like it did when she was 30.

Okay. Now imagine your grandmother can’t hear. Can’t see. Can’t control her body tremors. Can’t stand. Can’t sit. Just wants to lay down but the hair dresser is insisting NO! She must stand!!!!!
She must sit still!
She must control her body that is giving out!

All so I can get a perfect haircut!!!

It’s absolutely not okay and not fair!
