Hitchcock Quarter Horses is the horse side of a multi-generational operation with Skogen GK Angus and Skogen Livestock. Our horses have to meet the demands of the rugged Montana terrain, have cow sense, and the stamina to go all day long. We

have the strict rule that if anyone of us can't ride it, we don't keep it. Our studs and nearly all of our mares have been used on the ranch before entering our breeding program. The qualities we demand of our horses including trainability, athleticism, size, and structural soundness. Our foals have been easy to start and extremely willing. COLONEL C HEADER (aka Header) is our 2002 model stud. He has been the sire to all of our foals so far. He is as easy to get along with as he is good looking. I’ve fallen behind in my Facebook posts! Here is a video (from January!) of future son-in-law, Dillion, sorting cows to come home on ONE EPIC STAR DR aka LeRoy. Slow, quiet, and laid back, but quick and snappy when he needs to be. Leroy has been in the A-string this calving season, and with every new situation/challenge, he steps up to the plate and knocks it out of the park.

A must watch! We feel lucky, that as a family, we have a good system of keeping each other in check. Even as young children, we have valued Allyson and Chad’s opinions and included them in all of our decisions. A good personality, ease of handling, ground manners, etc are absolute-musts in our horses. If a horse is an ass-hat to handle, they don’t stay at our place. While we were in Texas, we had the privilege to meet Woody Be Tuff. As soon as the stall door opened, it was as-if you could hear him saying, “Hi. Nice to meet you. Oh, you have a camera. SMILE!” In that moment, we were sold and knew we needed one of his offspring.

When we went to Texas, we had no intentions of buying….only window shopping, but when we saw this c**t in person, we couldn’t pass him up. We're worse than 2 kids in the candy store. Introducing Makin Money Movves aka Money, a son of Woody Be Tuff.
With a last name of ‘Hitchcock’, a stud named 'Header', and now a Woody Be Tuff son, we’re thinking our new motto will be, “Cocks, Wood and Head”….

WILD CARD DUN IT is the sire to our upcoming stallion prospect, BOBBY D WILD CARD. According to QData Leader Boards, Wild Card Dun It is in the top 50 Sires of Money Earners for all roping events in 2024.

WILD CARD DUN IT earned a Top 4 Producing Stallions spot last year with progeny earning $14,400 at the inaugural Southland Incentive Team Roping!

LA Waters Quarter Horses has been raising champions for a long time! Wild Card Dun It was the 2006 AQHA junior all-around horse with points in heading, heeling, tie-down roping, working cow horse, reining, barrel racing and halter. He went on to be Robert Duvall's mount in Seven Days in Utopia.

This great stallion continues to pass on his performance and show pen charisma to his offspring as the sire of 2009 SRCHA Non-Pro Futurity Champion, 2017 AQHYA World Champion in Ranch Riding (115 entries), and 2016 AQHA Youth Hi Point in Versatility Ranch Horse. His get continue winning in arenas across the country today, including recent winners Nacho Man Wild Card, Champion of the 2023 Roping Futurities of America Breakaway Futurity, and Nifty Wild Card, winner of $25,000 for the fastest time in the second round of the 2022 Roping Futurities of America Breakaway Slot Race. Frothy Wild Card won in top level breakaway with young owner Amy Ohrt, and Eight Ball Wild Card with owner Madison Outhier. Rylie Smith won World Champion Challenger Header and Reserve Champion All-Around Cowgirl on Hail Mary Wild Card in the 2022 Women’s Rodeo World Championship, and Hope Thompson was All-Around Cowgirl on Rylie’s other mare Halleluia Wild Card.

Wild Card Dun It and his offspring come from the same program that produced All Gallo Colonel, winner of $100,000 in the first breakaway roping competition at The American Rodeo with then-16-year-old rider Madison Outhier.

MT PROMISE THE NIGHT went off to his new home yesterday. When we offered this c**t up for sale, I teased Mike that I would probably scare off any potential buyers with my, “Can I buy Tanya’s favorite baby horse” application? 😝 Tracy Mike’s passed the test, and we couldn’t be happier. Tracy even giggled when I warned him about me being a ‘baby-horse-stalker.’ This c**t is made to work and we really wanted him to go to a special home. Mission accomplished.

She didn’t succeed, ‘cause Kinley noticed her right away when she came looking for a future rodeo horse. MT LUCKY COLONEL ‘cause we think her “star” looks like a 4-leaf-clover and she’s Lucky Blanton bred. She is loosing all of her dark grulla colored hair and turning gray. Another big, soggy filly by COLONEL C HEADER, Lucky will be joining older sister, MT COLONELS LADY, with Marriah Bradstreet. Lucky also got haltered for the first time this week. She wasn’t too keen on the idea of giving to pressure at first, she pouted because I wouldn’t just scratch and love on her. As soon as she figured out she would get rewarded with scratches and love after giving-to-the-ask, she was a rockstar.
