We have so many cuties at the Chaffee Crossing Farmers Market Adoption Event today! 🐾🐶
We will be here until 2pm in our mobile adoption van.

We have several puppies and dogs available for adoption onsite and have even more adoptable cats and dogs at our shelter. Come check us out at the Farmers Market while you shop around and if you don’t find what you are looking for stop by our shelter just a few mins down the road! ❤️🥹

All of our animals are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines including rabies, microchipped, dewormed and on flea and heartworm prevention! Come adopt your best friend today!!! ☺️

We want to reintroduce you to 2 of the best boys! 🥰

**If you have spent time with them please tell us what you love about them in the comments!**

Brucey and Juno! These two are some of our longest residents yet are some of our best boys. We love having them around but would love even more for them to find their forever homes.

BRUCEY is our 3rd longest term dog 😭

He was never adopted and returned, he simply hasn’t left the shelter. He doesn’t get looked at much and unfortunately has just been passed over. Brucey is one of our Allstars at our events! A volunteer favorite, loves people and is great with kids! He has done great with other dogs, he would prefer a more chill/submissive friend to live with though.

Brucey loves to play and is an active boy! He would be great for a family or someone that enjoys hiking and being outdoors. He has great leash manners and is ready to go everywhere with you. He also LOVES car rides!

His prey drive is high! He will watch squirrels for hours. Due to his high prey drive he will need to go to a cat free home. 🚫🐈

JUNO is our 6th longest term dog 🥺

Juno is one of the few dogs at the shelter that has a job! He is our main dog testing dog, Juno LOVES other dogs and is a dream when it comes to meeting new friends. He helps shy dogs come out of their shell, teaches other dogs how to play and is patient and tolerant of the dogs that may not enjoy socializing or don’t know how. He is a total dogs dog and NEEDS a doggy friend, or 2 or 3 🤷‍♀️

Juno is one of those dogs that doesn’t show well, which is why we believe he has been with us for as long as he has. Juno can be very shy when meeting new people, he might hide behind those he knows and takes a little time to warm up 🙈 but Juno is the definition of a loyal dog! Once he accepts it is full acceptance and you are forever part of his life! He loves to give hugs, loves to play and will stay by your side.

Juno does however open up much faster if you bring a doggy friend to his meet and greet. While he is very confident around other dogs, he still learns from them when it comes to trusting us humans. Who can blame him, people can be scary sometimes!

Juno would do best in a home with kids 10+ and no cats!

We have a few positions open making it so we have multiple opportunities for you to find your place.

Here are some brief descriptions of each position!

Adoption Counselor: 🐶🐱

You will be helping potential adopters find the perfect match for their home and lifestyle. This will require the ability to learn about each animal to better provide information to adopters!
You will need to have good communication skills, some potential adopters come in needing help figuring out what exactly they are looking for!
You will also be answering phone calls and responding to emails and messages.

Vet Assistant: 💉💊

You will be assisting our vets with daily tasks in the pharmacy. This will including administering vaccines, medications, evaluating the overall health and conditions of the animals coming into the shelter and during their time at the shelter.
You will also be in charge of entering medical information into our system.
You will be one of the first people to interact with each animal that comes into our facility!

Kennel Technician: 🧼🫧

You will be in charge of keeping the animals kennels and space clean, insuring they have access to clean water at all times and feeding.
You will be in charge of taking dogs out for breaks from their kennel! This will also allow you to learn about each dog in your zone and help them build strong relationships with people as they adjust to the shelter.
It’s a scary place for animals, you will be the first person these animals feel comfortable with.

Do you have any idea how wonderful you all are?! 💕

We cannot thank you enough for showing up for these dogs the way you have! Seeing the smiles on these dogs faces makes our hearts so incredibly happy 🥰

You always show up when we ask, but the way you have all come out to support our dogs during these walking events has been one of the most heartwarming things we have seen 😍

Our dogs are happier, they are sleeping better and are so much more relaxed during normal day to day activities!

Our last walking event turned into something we never expected, we ran out of dogs to walk at the lake so everyone followed us back to the shelter and every dog aside for 7 DOGS were walked that night!
You all came together and walked OVER 100 DOGS 😭

We will be doing this event again this week! Come to the shelter tomorrow at 6 to walk some dogs 🦮🐕‍🦺

You can fill out volunteer paperwork at the shelter, don’t stress if you haven’t volunteered with us before!

We will be at Torraine Lake Tonight (9/4) at 6:00 with a group of dogs that would love to get out for a little bit! We will bring the dogs to you; all you have to do is show up! We will be there for a couple hours to make sure every dog gets a chance to get out.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped rescued this sweet girl this morning from Jiffy Trip. With the help of animal control to the workers at Jiffy Trip to the gentleman who bought some jerky bites and the kind man who brought his sweet 6 month old puppy to a young lady, with out the help of each of you we would have not been able to catch her so quickly!!!

Because of your efforts, the dog is now safe and being cared for. This wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support and teamwork from each one of you.

Thank you for coming together to help this sweet girl, we named Jiffy! She will be placed on a 5 day stray hold and fully vetted before being placed for adoption. Jiffy just like so many others at our shelter need fosters, adopters and continue support from our community!

‼️WE NEED YOU‼️
We talk about how it “Takes a village” when it comes to the rescue world, well we need that village now 🥺🙏

We are beyond over capacity! We are literally busting at the seams, we cannot help anymore dogs until some LEAVE the shelter! This means we have ZERO space for injured animals, aggressive animals, bite cases, owner arrests, cruelty cases, no space. We have built the extra kennels we can.

If you have an animal with us, please come claim them! They are waiting for you and want to go home. The shelter isn’t better than being alone during a 12 hours shift, or not having a backyard to run in. At least they are in a comfy bed, in a quiet and safe place, they can relax and feel at home.
The shelter is loud, scary and they get less attention than they do in the few hours you are home. They have to sleep alone in a strange place. They would rather be with you!

Kaiser:
He is about about a year old, weighs 47lbs and is full of love! He absolutely loves other dogs, has done wonderful with kids and loves everyone he has met! He is goofy, playful and ready to get into a home to learn all about being the best teen pup he can be 🥹

Susan:
She is roughly 4 years old, weighs 44lbs and is a total couch potato 🥔 she has the cutest short, chunky legs and a big head 🥹😂 Susan is goofy but not hyper! She has a wonderful temperament and is so easy going. She has done great with all of the dogs she has met and is super sweet and submissive to people! 💕

Ruby:
She is about 2 years old, weighs 53lbs and is the most submissive girl 🥺 she is as sweet as they come, belly up the second she meets someone new. She has done very well with other dogs, a little shy at first but when she warms up she is ready to play! She loves people and will definitely be a velcro dog. She wants to be with her humans. We think Ruby would do amazing with kids!

Winry:
She is about a year old, weighs 40lbs and is full of personality! She is sweet, playful, althetic and so eager to please. She LOVES other dogs! Has done great with kids, especially those that want to play! With that being the case we believe she would do best in a home with older kids, or at least kids that are comfortable with playful dogs while she learns to be more aware of her size!

What you can’t see in these pictures is that each of these dogs came in with other dogs, so behind each face is a friend or sibling of theirs also waiting for a home! 😭

Please, please, please come and adopt or foster!
We need help with our medium/large dogs more than anything else. If you can open your heart and home to one of these precious babies that would help so many ❤️

Mama, whose real name is Azule, family has been found! She has a litter of 7 week old puppies that will be so excited to have her home.

Her family is currently in the process of moving and they had a friend watching her. She escaped from them and she went running, they had no luck catching or locating her. Explains why she didn’t know the area!

This mama has a wonderful human sibling that wanted them to match so both of their hair was dyed pink! 🥰

Azule will be spayed and returned home to her family before their big move is finalized! 🥳

Thank you for all of the shares, it got this sweet girl home!

**UPDATE as of 4:30pm**
Videos of puppies crying have been on repeat, she will not leave the parking lot. She wants in the car and if she can’t get in the car she will go and lay down under the parked cars. She has no interest in leaving and if she does she comes right back to the parking lot. We believe she was dumped and her babies are not in this area 💔
We have gone door to door and asked anyone we saw walking or outside in surrounding neighborhoods but no one reconginzes her 😭

Many of you have seen this mama posted today.
She is safe, her puppies are not! Based on her current appearance she appears to still have quite a bit of milk.
We are still in the area next to Dollar General (On Spradling), we have not removed her. We tried to follow and see where she would go but she went in different directions everytime, even when watching from afar.
This sweet mama is NOT street smart, she will get hit. She is completely oblivious to vehicles and will run right into oncoming traffic. This intersection is a death trap.
She is very out of place, we are not sure if she escaped a yard and doesn’t know how to get back home or if she was left behind.

The pink dye seems faded, maybe she lived in a home with kids? She is not a street dog.
ANY help is greatly appreciated! If you recognize her, know anyone with puppies and a blue pittie mama, know of someone missing a mama, anything please let us know ASAP!

We will be going door to door! 🚪

We don’t know who had more fun, the dogs or everyone else! 😍
Thank you so much to everyone that stopped to give these babies tons of love!

The dogs enjoyed every minute of it and are going to get some very good sleep today! 😴

We had some puppies get plenty of socialization and energy out before their big trip up north tomorrow 🥳

We had some of our longer term dogs come out to get a much needed break from the shelter!

Juno: **6th Longest Term Dog**
His one year with us is coming up in September, he is praying that someone will fall in love with him and take him home before that date arrives 🥺 Juno absolutely LOVES other dogs! Big, small, puppies, high energy, low energy, we mean it when we say he LOVES dogs! Needing a friend for your dog? Come by and meet Juno. He can be a little shy at first but give him a little time and he turns into a total velcro dog.

Brucey: **3rd Longest Term Dog**
He has been with us for 1.5 YEARS 😭 Brucey doesn’t know a stranger and is 100% a social butterfly! Brucey does well with other dogs, he does prefer his female friends 😉 but he does get along with other males! Like Juno! Just no kitties for Brucey.
Brucey is also great with kids and would love to have some kids to run and play with! Especially older ones that will play fetch and wrestle around with him!

So many happy, smiling faces 🥹😍
We wanted to share some of our recent adoptions!

We are so thankful for everyone that continues to support and help our dogs and cats and incredibly grateful for everyone that opens their home to one forever!

We are also super excited about our new partnership in Washington! They are helping us reach a whole new pool of adopters, once we have enough animals adopted out we will be driving them to their forever homes in the Northwest!

Today is a big day for one of our favorite volunteers!
Everyone wish Zac a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🥳🎉🎊
13 but more like 30, he is running this place like he owns it! 😉

Zac has been helping us for quite some time now so many of you will likely recognize him! He helps us in so many ways. He walks dogs, socializes dogs and cats, helps with events, adoptions and fosters and even helps our new volunteers get the hang of things.

Seeing kids his age show so much compassion and respect for animals is incredibly refreshing 🥹 He has been a gift at the shelter that keeps giving!

Thank you Zac for being you and we can’t wait to see what else you do for all of the animals in need! We are all lucky to have you as part of our team 🥰
