Our 501(c)3mission is to provide high quality low cost spay/neuter and basic wellness for dogs & cats

In 2007, a group of concerned individuals formed the 501(c)(3) nonprofit called River Valley Animal Welfare Coalition, now called Friends of Kitties & Kanines, out of the concern for pet overpopulation in the River Valley community. They realized that the main reason people do not spay/neuter their pets is due to the high cost or having no access to spay/neuter services.

nary Clinic opened in 2009 and became the first clinic of its kind in the state of Arkansas. The clinic is proud to provide the River Valley community with a clinic that has a state-of-the-art surgery center and the latest equipment. Kitties & Kanines Veterinary Clinic is currently preforming around 7,000 spay/neuter surgeries and administering over 14,000 vaccines each year. Friends of Kitties & Kanines our 501(c)(3) works to fund Kitties & Kanines Veterinary Clinic to provide the community with high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter services, as well as vaccinations and microchipping. This is only possible through the generous grants, fundraisers, and donations from the community. We have also recently been able to expand our services to include a free pet food pantry and a community cat trap neuter return program. Our dream is to expand our services in the future to include services that will educate and empower pet owners to be the best pet parents possible.

Baby It’s Cold Outside! During cold weather please bring your pets inside. If they must stay outside please be sure they have a warm dry place protected from wind to sleep and a clean unfrozen source of water. Dogs and cats can get frostbite and even die from cold weather 🥶

Fort Smith Residents can receive up to 4 vouchers in 2025 to help Spay/Neuter their pets. All you have to do is request the voucher when setting up the appointment, then bring a bill or Driver's License to verify city residency.

Microchips work! This kitty went home today because it got microchipped when it got spayed with the Fort Smith voucher program.
Are you a Fort Smith resident? The Fort Smith voucher program will continue thru December just request the voucher when setting up your appointment and bring your Driver’s License to verify residency.

We are so Thankful for everyones support and donations that allow our nonprofit clinic, adoption services and pet food pantry to operate! We hope you have a wonderful day. We will be closed on Thursday to celebrate. Wellness services will be open on Friday and Surgeries will resume on Monday Dec. 2nd. 😇
