Kitties and Kanines Veterinary Clinic

Kitties and Kanines Veterinary Clinic Our 501(c)3mission is to provide high quality low cost spay/neuter and basic wellness for dogs & cats

In 2007, a group of concerned individuals formed the 501(c)(3) nonprofit called River Valley Animal Welfare Coalition, now called Friends of Kitties & Kanines, out of the concern for pet overpopulation in the River Valley community. They realized that the main reason people do not spay/neuter their pets is due to the high cost or having no access to spay/neuter services.

Kitties & Kanines Veteri

nary Clinic opened in 2009 and became the first clinic of its kind in the state of Arkansas. The clinic is proud to provide the River Valley community with a clinic that has a state-of-the-art surgery center and the latest equipment. Kitties & Kanines Veterinary Clinic is currently preforming around 7,000 spay/neuter surgeries and administering over 14,000 vaccines each year. Friends of Kitties & Kanines our 501(c)(3) works to fund Kitties & Kanines Veterinary Clinic to provide the community with high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter services, as well as vaccinations and microchipping. This is only possible through the generous grants, fundraisers, and donations from the community. We have also recently been able to expand our services to include a free pet food pantry and a community cat trap neuter return program. Our dream is to expand our services in the future to include services that will educate and empower pet owners to be the best pet parents possible.

We had an exciting surgery recently, this big lump came out of a little kitty’s throat. This lump was so large the kitty was having difficulty breathing. In a frantic effort to save his life an area rescue brought him to Kitties and Kanines. Our surgical team found the lump blocking his throat and quickly went to work to remove the lump and neuter this sweet kitty all at the same time! Great Job Ashley K Smith and team!

Did you know corn cobs are deadly to dogs? A corn cob can get stuck in their throat or intestines. This sweet dog unfortunately got ahold of one and experienced an intestinal blockage. Dr Smith was able to open her up and remove it on Friday. She is now recovering nicely.
