Well surprise surprise. We checked on our first clutch this morning and this little one was staring up at us. We thought we had another few days to go but guess not. Green hypo albino twin spot to boot. 2024 hatching season is officially underway.

Someone been busy today. We noticed our egyptian uromastyx female digging up the hot end of her viv the last couple of days so we put a lay box in with her. Safe to say she's enjoying herself and hopefully will deposit fertile eggs in the coming days.

This clutch makes us very happy as this female was given last season off due to a torn o**m duct the season before. She was on critter fixers country vets last season so some of you may remember her. After getting the all clear from our vet we decided to give her another shot this season and she isn't disappointing. So far 10 beautiful eggs and she is still going.

We are beyond excited as our hognose laying season has officially started this morning. This first time mom is doing a great job so far. We should have new clutches each week now for the next couple of months.

Our hawk moths have been laying eggs in the flight pen for a couple days now and this is what we have collected each day if not more. We should see baby hornworms in tge next day or 2. If this keeps up we'll have some available as smalls after next week.

So we have been checking our bsfl bin on a daily basis and getting some larvae but not as many as we thought we would. We investigated and found thousands of larvae in the substrate but wondered why the werent climbing up tye tube to escape the substrate like they should. We set up a second bin lastnight and today we made an adjustment that we hope will work so we harvest more larvae. We'll keep y'all updated foe sure. This is definitely a trial and error thing until it's perfect.

So a few weeks ago we decided to try and raise our own hornworms. We harvested eggs, we hatched them and we have been raising them in our reptile room. Some we placed on heat tape at 92f others we left at room temp of 72. This was to see how fast they would grow at different temps. We are very happy with the results as we have learned alot as these little ones have grown. We have several in crystalis stage and some getting ready to go into that stage( the ones kept at higher temp) and some that are still fairly small to medium size ( lower temps). Hopefully we will have moths soon and then thousands of eggs to hatch out. It's a long process but we hope to have hornworms available for purchase very soon. Keep watching this page for updates.
