Dog Neutrality Training

- Practice Focus Drills.
- Train early with puppies creating positive associations with dogs. Be sure they are in a controlled environment with other puppies. Not a dog park.
-Start at a distance and reward for good calm behavior. Keep doing reps getting closer and closer if the dog is responsive. Some dogs it takes longer at a distance.
-If your dog is aggressive with other dogs seek professional training!

Over excitement is also considered reactivity and can lead to loosing control.

Happy Veterans Day!!🇺🇸 thank you to all of our clients who are serving and have served. Service to our country doesn’t stop with our military service. Remember we are the assets of the future and the skills we learned can help others. Our purpose is to carry on and join our communities in giving back.

I was able to stop in and check on a Veteran who is lining up his Life Buddy training at BTS K9 Dog Training in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

It so great when I have the opportunity to meet Sierra Delta’s Veterans and Dog Training partners in person!

The Florida State Guard Special Missions Unit is positioned and ready to respond to those affected the worst from . 🌀 The special missions unit is equipped with boats, vehicles, aircraft, and a K9 team to provide the fastest response in our state.

From our BTS K9 team with K9 ODIN and with K9 SAGE are part of the search and rescue team. They have spent countless hours doing tracking and training for this moment. The Florida special missions unit makes history for our state and is the first of its kind.

Believe you can do it. Be relentless. I am extremely proud to support my husband as the Commander of the Florida State Special Missions Unit K9 Detachment.

The team itself rises above expectations and standards. They have spent countless hours and time building a unit to keep our state safer. They volunteer their time and each person on the team I have seen pour their heart and soul into the mission each day.

People like myself support the mission by donating time and resources such as our business at BTS K9 for a greater cause. Missions such as search and rescue, natural disaster relief, and stopping human trafficking are passions I stand behind supporting. This team will do great things.

I am proud that we have weathered many storms for this opportunity. I look forward to what this great team will accomplish 🇺🇸

Grooming is essential for training. Not just because the dogs feel good but also for behavioral reasons. Matting can cause painful bruising on the skin and erratic behavior. Dirty skin, dander, or allergies can cause excessing itching and hot spots.

Know your breed and how to properly groom them. Not all dogs need a bath every month, and some dogs have wiry fur that tangles, they are all different. We have taught clients how to brush their dogs and how to keep their dogs hair from matting. There is a lot behind it, like that tools to use or what products to use. Diet can be a factor to a lot of coat problems. As trainers it is our job to notice all of it. We ask the question, “what, exactly is contributing to the behavior.” Out of the 500 dogs that have graduated our programs a number of them have had behavioral problems from matting or cost problems. We want our clients to ask questions even about their dogs fur! 🐕

We take pride in keeping our dogs in training clean and well maintained. We partner with in FWB for all of our challenge pup cuts.
