🚨 Warning, gruesome photos 🚨

Sally needs help!

Last week we were contacted about this sweet senior girl, Sally, that needed out from a kill shelter because she needed her eye removed. Unfortunately, Saturday evening one of the dogs in the home attacked Sally. Sally is now at MedVet Lexington fighting for her life. Sally is in high spirits and wagging her tail but let me tell you she is still in critical condition. She is hospitalized, had multiple X-rays and ultrasounds, she has had two blood transfusions and is still facing surgery. As of right now she has not been able to go into surgery as her red blood cell count is too low. We are trying to give Sally a fighting chance because she shows us she is a fighter!

Her current care plan estimate is up to $12,000 ‼️ This is a very high amount but we want her to get the care she needs. A deposit has been paid and she has already been there for 48 hours but honestly we were hoping to have a better update as she was supposed to get surgery. As of now we don’t know when Sally will be released and this bill is likely going to be higher!

Please pray for Sally! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 We are praying Sally keeps fighting and then she will go to a temp foster for her medical recovery. She will then be looking for a long term foster.

Update: She got transferred to Bluegrass Vet Specialists around noon today. Medvet suggested she get hyperbaric chamber treatments and they didn’t have it but bluegrass does. They are going to do a ct tomorrow after giving her a treatment today. Still not out of the woods but was walking and peeing on her own today, which is amazing!

Meet Daisy 🩷

Daisy is a sweet and kind dog. She enjoys being with family and loves to retrieve her toys. She likes to just be around whatever is going on- a great companion dog. She enjoys the challenge of a treat being hid and finding it. She is intelligent. She has been through 2 obedience classes through Green Dog in Fort Wayne and would be great to get trained with their type training with her new owner to establish bond, as it was awesome.

She is agile and she loves to cuddle and play. I believe if an obstacle course was set she could learn it. We have done a simple type before and she was able to do it guided by a treat and with some practice able to do it. After some playtime or vigorous walk she is ready to rest.

She likes to chew so needs to have bones or toys for that.

She should be a perfect fit for a family that has children. She does sometimes jump up to small children but only playfully though that should be supervised so as not to accidentally knock them over. As far as gentleness we trust her around our little one in the family who is 1.5 year old.

Daisy is not normally a random barker unless something new is happening or she has another problem, like she needs to go out potty but then she usually would whine more-so.

She is used to getting groomed every few weeks.

Maple has been adopted! 🩷🎉

Maple came from a small shelter in central Indiana that was bursting at the seams. Maple did amazing in her foster home and went to multiple adoption events. Finally a family applied to adopt her! They were looking for a family dog and their daughter saw Maple’s photos and fell in love. At the meet and greet it was a PERFECT fit!

We are so happy for Maple finding her forever! 🩷

We are in CRITICAL need of both dog and cat food. Cat litter and flea prevention is also a huge need. However we fly through pet food with how many animals we have in foster homes so this is a constant priority for sure. Also consider adopting one of our animals 😉

How is this handsome boy still not adopted? 🤔

Meet your "beginner's guide to owning a husky." Blair is a lil over year old male alaskan husky. He doesn't have much of a voice unless you are first walking through the door or it's time to eat. But you can certainly get him talkin! He'll try to get his way, creeping up on to the bed/couch in slow motion, waiting to see if you'll push him off (he makes a lovely door when watching tv🙄). Having heterochromatic eyes makes him think he can get away with anything (mostly snuggles), but sometimes he'll have the opposite effect, looking like a skinwalker at night; giving a wild grin👀. While he loves to play, he mostly tries to cuddle any moment he can get.

Do you remember Rocky?

He is the 13 year old pittie that we took about two months ago with the really bad skin. His skin scrap was negative and so he was put on an antibiotic, medicated shampoo, and a good nutritious food regiment to help. His skin has been doing great up until about two weeks ago when he started being irritated and losing hair again. We also noticed a mass on his neck. So last week he went to the vet and unfortunately we have not great news. The mass on his throat is thyroid cancer. 😭 He had bloodwork done which confirms he also has hypothyroidism. He got started on medications immediately. Unfortunately he is not a candidate for surgery due to his age and the location of the mass. This means that our option is palliative care and helping some of the symptoms including poor skin.

Rocky will be staying in his foster home as a forever foster! ❤️

With that being said, Rocky will need monthly bloodwork checks to monitor his new thyroid medications and ensure that none of his other organs start showing decline. At this time he is also on three different daily medications to see how he does. He would also love to continue being spoiled with lots of wet food and treats! Rocky also says joint supplements and some CBD would be amazing for his old man joints.

Update on Toby from his sweet foster!

Let me tell you about my new buddy Toby. He’s such a sweet boy. He loves to snuggle on the couch with his person. He loves his toys & treats. He’s crate & house trained. Up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative & up to date on monthly flea tick & heartworm prevention. He’s a little unsure of other dogs at first but slowly likes his lady friends. So slow & steady wins the race for him.

10 month old female kitten. Shy at first but very playful. Loves cat towers. She lives in a home with a dog, her siblings and mom, and a child.

Courtesy Post! 🩵

We were contacted to see if we could help this dog but at this time we do not have an available foster. Is anyone able to foster, adopt, or is another rescue willing to intake? He was found tied up in an area with no open access animal control and unfortunately the surrounding counties won’t take him. He is not microchipped and no owner has reclaimed.

“A few days ago I found this poor baby tied to my apartment complexes fence. He looks as though he has not been taken care of or fed properly for some time. We believe he has been abused potentially by a male. He is very very sweet and cuddly. A little hesitant around males but has shown no signs of aggression. He did break out of a wire kennel and tear some things up when he was left alone. We don't currently have the time or the money to take care of him and give him the love he needs to build his confidence in people again. He does okay with other dogs, and walks well on a leash. He has not been around cats. He is also not neutered and not chipped.”

📍 Found in Northwest Indiana but is currently with the finder’s relative in Fort Wayne, IN as they didn’t want to just release him!

Friendly reminder! Please be respectful to our volunteers 🩷 We are a 100% volunteer run organization meaning each and every volunteer has a full time job. We will always respond right away. We get hundreds of messages and emails daily requesting our assistance. We are simply not able to intake every animal that we are requested to help. It doesn’t mean that we don’t care, because we do. But we cannot continue intaking animals with limited donations, slow adoptions, and limited fosters.
