9 years ago today we started pouring the footers on our addition and renovation of our building! As we go into our 10th year, improvements galore have happened in the last month and year:
1. New operating system
2. New alerts to stay aware of our schedule
3. New texting number 260-488-7758
4. Painting and freshening the building, excuse our dust please!
5. And new staff member Ben!
Thank you for all your patience!

Long post warning!
Week 2 of our new system! We are learning our process and getting quicker, so more appointments opened today. 🥳
Our new system has a built in texting number that stays in your chart. Please use 260-488-7758 to text, or 260-489-5611 to call us.
The new Pet Portal!
1. Read ALL of this before you try to use it! We are working hard to manage all the calls and texts for filling medications. This is causing a slight back log because of the sheer amount of calls for medication refills, thank you in advance for your patience…. !

https://petportal.vet/fort-wayne-pet-hospital

2. legally, a pet is property and who ever the primary is on your account is the legal owner.
3. If you placed your spouse as the primary and they are not who we contact for information, appointment notifications, reminders, follow ups, and more, it will all go to the primary not you. If you are changing that to yourself, we have to get permission from the primary to make you the new primary.
4. When you enter the email, it is what ever you put for the primary email. If you put in a spouse email, that is what you have to use to get your code. This is important because that is the email to get your code every time you open your portal. It is a portal, not an APP. Security is important, and if you keep a card on file, you will be able to prepay when you order with a saved card or enter it each time on the portal.
5. Phone number entered for portal: must be the primary, which ever one you used.
6. When our history was transported it took your primary name as is from the old system. So for first name, it could be 3 ways: John or John A or John A. Last name of primary: Doe
You may have to try all 3 ways.
7. In our old system we had to put the primaries phone and list it as a home phone. That became a problem when it transferred. If you have any problems getting your 2 days and 2 hours reminder text prior to an appointment the week of, please let us know so we can change it to a mobile title.
8. This system only sends email reminders as of this day. So if you don’t look at emails, or check your portal for when you are due, you will miss reminders. Texting is coming and we are workin on a plan B to get us through till that day arrives.
9. If you stuck with us through this long story, thank you!!! Thank you for your partnership as a family and your patience as we continue to improve our practice with quality software. WARNING: every medication you currently use has to be texted to 260-488-7758, or called in to 260-489-5611 for a refill. Until we have entered a medication in the new system, we can’t just click on the refill. We have to enter it as a new prescription and go through all that entails. After that it is done once, it is simple to request a refill right on the portal from your existing prescription list, same as you did in our old system. You can now also view and print copies of your invoices, vaccine certificates, and so much more. The portal allows you to add and update seasonal pictures of your pet❤️, we look forward to seeing your pets glamour shot! Thank you again, and have a great day!
PS if you get a pop up block, that is a settings on your phone not the portal.

Edit: must be the primary’s name for link. If we had your middle initial on file,
First name must use middle initial: Jane A.
Last name: Doe.
If it doesn’t, Jane Doe. Try this while we work on a mass edit.
If you put the account in your spouses name, you must use their name and the correct email on file. 🤞🏻

What a wonderful week! We are learning quickly and love ❤️ our new system. Here is the link to our new pet portal.
https://petportal.vet/fort-wayne-pet-hospital
It is open but you cannot ask for a refill on a medication until we have entered it at least 1 time in our new system. We are excited that when you enter a photo of your pet in the portal it also shows them in our chart next to that pets name!
The portal will also allow you to see invoices and rabies certificates once they have it all transferred. You also pay for meds or add a credit to your chart for upcoming appointments or procedures.
Thank you again for your partnership and support as we work to improve our team and practice! Have a great holiday week!

EDIT: some of the work arounds on our old system are causing some problems and on Monday we will see if there is a way to bulk edit your charts. Until then we have to change it one person at a time. 🥲
If that is the case, we will get after it after the holiday when we have spent a full week in our new system. Feel free to comment here and we’ll work on them as time allows. I’m now moving on to other projects still needing completed. Thank you for your patience , some grace, and continued support!❤️

2nd day of live in our wonderful new operating system! Thank you for your patience(some asked to confirm 3 times for one appointment🤦‍♀️), waiting while we mastered new tasks💡, and giving grace on medications while we removed all meds so we could do inventory💻💊. We are so pleased with how well we are doing but will still have to manually enter every medication as it is the the first time in the new system. What that means is until you have bought something once, you can’t request a refill on your portal because nothing is in there to refill yet. So if you need meds or food, you must use our new text number 260-488-7758, or call and leave a message. Reminders are still importing as there are millions of reminders for our clients and we are grateful for each one of you! We are back to regular hours and look forward to serving you. For now, we are leaving your pet portal off, probably through Monday. 🫶🥳 We’re tired but happy with our practice, and here’s a little cuteness from our latest lykoi kitty! Shout out to our Training Manager Beka Badders and her trusty assistant River!

We are hard at work preparing for our live system on Thursday! We will be sending emails that will update you on our new program! It will tell you how to link to the new client portal page, how you will be able to make appointments, be able to print your vaccine certificates anytime, request refills and then pay on that same page for your meds, and so much more. The security on the new system is fiercely protective of your information. Each time you log in there is a verification step that secures your payments and personal information! Reminder: WE CLOSE AT 4pm on Tuesday and 2pm on Wednesday. 2 days left on an 8 month process!

THIS IS THE WEEK! We are going live with our new system on Thursday! If you have medication to pick up, please do so by close today because we will have to remove all medications not picked up yet! We will close at 4pm on Tuesday for training, close at 12pm on Wednesday, and we go live on Thursday! We are excited to bring a tool that will allow us to do even better medicine and allow us to manage information no matter where you are in our building. We appreciate and ask for grace as we master our new process. For a short amount of time this will limit how many appointments are available and as we get up to speed we will be more efficient with time management!

🎃Happy Howloween from Fort Wayne Pet Hospital! 👻
Let's keep our furry friends safe and avoid any ghoulish vet visits. Remember, chocolates, candies, and other treats may be yummy for us but can be toxic or cause a spooky mess for our four-legged buddies.🙀

We’d love to see you and your pets costumes!

Another reason why yearly vaccines are important!

📢PSA: Confirmed raccoon distemper case next to Wayne High School. This lady had a family so there are probably more out there. If you see a raccoon acting strangely (approaching people, having seizures, walking like it's drunk and falling over, snarling like a wild hog, sitting in the middle of the yard during daylight hours, crusty eyes and nose, or a bright green reflection from their eyes if you shine a light on them, pressing forehead to the ground), you may have a case of distemper on your hands. Please reach out if you need guidance. We can't humanely treat it, so the kindest course of action is euthanasia so that they aren't spreading it to other raccoons or your pet dogs and cats.

So far we've had distemper cases this fall in Fort Wayne near Carroll High School, Northrop High School, and Wayne High School as well as 2 cases from Bluffton. This right here is why trapping and relocating is a BAD idea: you could be spreading the disease to others.

We're also seeing multiple species of animals with mange from the NE side of Fort Wayne near Riverbend Golf Course and off of Maplecrest Road. If you see crusty looking wild animals missing fur, it may be mange (which we can and will definitely treat if the animal can be caught).

Vaccinate your pets, people. Let's not make the situation worse.

Not my photo, but check out the green eye shine in the raccoon in this picture. Distemper causes mineral deposits to the eyes, resulting in this abnormal green shine.
