This week is – a special time designated to recognize, celebrate, and promote the vital role and valuable contributions technicians and assistants make to the veterinary profession and the health and well-being of animals.

As members of the healthcare team, they do whatever it takes to care for patients and their families – from triaging critical patients and providing life-saving CPR, to giving
extra cuddles to a sick pet and making sure they have plenty of blankets.
These talented professionals laugh with you, cry with you, and are always there for you and your pet.

This week (and every week) we celebrate our veterinary technicians and assistants. THANK YOU for all that you do!

Pictured is a few of our team members celebrating this week - check back each day this week for more fun pictures from our celebrations!

We’re celebrating this sweet pup heading home!

Taylor came to our emergency service after snacking on a toy filled with stuffing. Initially, we hoped to remove the stuffing through an endoscopy under anesthesia, but it didn’t go as planned. Taylor needed abdominal surgery to safely remove the stuffing.

During her recovery, she faced a serious complication—septic shock, which can be life-threatening if not caught and treated quickly. But thanks to our amazing Criticalist Dr. Eicher and our talented ICU technicians, who worked tirelessly around the clock, Taylor pulled through!

We also have to give a huge shoutout to Taylor’s momma, who visited every single day, giving Taylor the strength and love to keep fighting.

We’re incredibly grateful for our hardworking team, who care so much for patients like Taylor, and as you can see, we’re always thrilled to send these sweet kids home to their paw-rents!

Our team got to attend the Purdue Veterinary Conference that was held from September 17th - 21st. The conference kicked off Tuesday, with Dr. Nancy Gee's Elanco Human-Animal Bond Lecture. There was a packed schedule of expert talks, an extensive exhibit hall and there was plenty of CE credits!

It’s always a fantastic opportunity to connect with our veterinary community—from veterinarians and vet techs to practice managers and students. We had so much fun catching up with old friends, making new ones, and sharing our passion for the veterinary field! 💙

Meet Ace, the beagle who’s wagging his tail in remission!

Ace, a 4-year-old Beagle, was diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoma back in January by NIVES Internal Medicine. With the support of his amazing housemate, Monday, and the dedicated care from Dr. Totten, Ace bravely went through the 16-week CHOP Protocol, which included both injectable and oral chemotherapy.

We’re thrilled to share that Ace has completed his treatment and is now in remission!

Monday (his housemate) was by his side for every visit, offering moral support and celebrating each milestone. To top it off, Ace got his very own stuffed bagel toy—his favorite treat!

Swipe through to see some snapshots of Ace’s journey, including the best photo and a heartwarming one with Dr. Totten. We’re over the moon for Ace and his family and couldn’t be happier for their incredible news!

Please join us in welcoming our newest Emergency Veterinarian, Francesca Fuger!

My name is Francesca Fuger and I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I received a bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) and my DVM from Ross University in St. Kitts, completing my clinical year at Kansas State University. I love emergency and critical care medicine because I get to see and learn something new every day. In my free time I enjoy painting with watercolors, reading fantasy novels, and adventuring with my dog Mabel.

It’s ***dePreventionMonth and this week is ***dePreventionWeek - an important reminder to us all that many people are going through silent struggles. Our very own veterinary health teams are at particularly high risk due to stressful job demands and the emotional toll of providing medical care for animals in need. However, anyone can be susceptible to suicidal thoughts so we should always be mindful and kind to each other.

Visit nomv.org (Not One More Vet) to learn about the resources and support for all members of veterinary teams and students who may be struggling or considering su***de.

If you or someone you know is struggling or would like more information about resources related to su***de prevention please reach out to to the national Su***de and Crisis hotline by calling or texting 9-8-8 or visiting 988.com
