Savannah’s of all shapes in sizes!
Savannah Monitors are one of the most popular pet monitors. This is great because if worked with and cared for properly they can be great animals.

The downside is, a lot of people get them when they are small hatchling sized and fail to realize how big they really get. It’s unfortunately at this point most keepers “rehome” them.

If you think you’re ready to welcome a Savannah into your home please do your homework. Understand they they’re an animal that will require a lot of time and patience and effort to get them tamed down. But the reward is so worth it.

Pictured below is Nani our rescue Savannah playing in her bowl and walking on a leash and Stitch our baby Savannah working on his hand taming skills.

Animal spotlight! Meet Onyx. Onyx is an Anerythristic Corn Snake. These little slither babies are native to the United States are are most commonly seen in the red morph variety. Though this specific genus is referred to as a Corn Snake, they are part of the Rat Snake family and help to control the rodent population in the areas they are native to.

If you see one in the wild, no need to fear. Just leave them alone and they’ll help keep your home rodent free.

These make fantastic beginner pet snakes for their docile nature and temperament. While they are a bit more wirey when being held compared to the other leading pet snake( ball pythons) they still make for fantastic companions.

If you’re in the market for a pet snake, take these gentle noodles into consideration.

We’re welcoming “Sheldon” to Creature Alley! Sheldon is a roughly 14 year old Yellow Bellied slider. He came to us from some great people who are going through a rough time and felt that he would be better off under our care.

Remember, there’s no shame in surrendering an animal! Especially if it’s in their best interest. No judgement, just love for all the creatures!

If you were waiting for life to give you a sign, here it is! Tarantulas actually make fantastic pets for all keeper levels! They’re highly misunderstood, as most of them would rather run than to try and bit you. If you’re interested in bringing an eight legged baby into your home but have no clue where to start, reach out to us! We’d be glad to go over everything with you!

Todays Creature Feature: This is Dr. Lecter. He’s currently a juvenile Colombian Gold Tegu. These beautiful animals come from South America, enjoy moderately high humidity and a very hot basking spot. Don’t let his current small size fool you. Once full grown these lizards can reach about 4ft in length!

Though great animals and with the right amount of work they can be amazing pets, they are not for everyone.

Please keep in mind if you’re considering a Tegu, the temperatures and environment they need to thrive, as well as the size of an enclosure they will need! Typically a 6x2x2 or larger!

Remember, like many other animals, these guys are a lifelong commitment.

If you’re not able to give them the love and care they need and deserve, do yourself and them a favor and enjoy them from a far.

Hey everyone!
Thank you so much for all of the love and support we’ve received so far! It means a lot more to us than you know. Here at Creature Alley we love animals and want to give the unloved and unwanted a fighting chance.

We need your help to do this through! Help us get the word out about our service! Share our page with your friends, family, and colleagues!

The more we can get our name out there the better chances we have at changing the lives of animals in need!

We are based in Fort Wayne Indiana but appreciate support from across the country!

Like, share, repost, whatever you can do to help spread the word and show these animals that they are not forgotten and that brighter days are ahead for them!

Thank you!

Success story! “Big Girl” was adopted last night. This ball python had a crazy story. We were contacted by an employee when she was found in a donation pile behind a Goodwill in Auburn. She was left out in the cold to face the elements. We took her in and gave her a warm home and lots of love. We are happy to report that as of last night Big Girl is happily now in her forever home. She’s roughly a 5ft ball python.
