With an arRAY of adaptations, spiracles just may be the coolest stingray adaptation yet! The holes located behind a stingray's eyes, or spiracles, help this aquatic species breathe, even when buried underneath sand on the ocean floor.

Happy ! Did you know ostriches are often spotted with zebras in their native environment? This bird's excellent eyesight and poor sense of smell balances perfectly with a zebra's keen eyesight and acute sense of smell, combining their strengths to detect nearby predators.

Benedict 🤝🏼 vegetables. It's a match made in heaven 🥬

Did you know sloths have one of the slowest metabolisms of all mammals? Although they may eat small amounts of leaves and produce throughout the day, it can take days or weeks for food to pass through their digestive system!

It's , and we are nuts about our Prevost's squirrels, Joy and Huckleberry! 🐿

Did you know Prevost's squirrels are mostly arboreal? This rodent species spends much of its time in the trees, using their sharp claws to help cling to branches.

Thank you to our wonderful Fort Wayne Zoo Team for braving the cold and ensuring the animals that call the Zoo home receive exceptional care in all weather conditions. Throughout the Zoo, staff members are working hard to make sure all animals have what they need to be comfortable. For those who thrive in the cold, we're providing extra heated lamps to their habitats and warm bedding in their shelters, while those nuzzled inside have spaces far away from any cold at all.
