Quality and Affordability.
From the very beginning, this has been the mission of The Boarding Barn. You could even say that out of these two ideas was birthed the whole idea of The Boarding Barn.

As we continue to grow as a business we always want these two values to be at our core. It is with these in mind that we have decided to change the way we do our pricing. We will no longer be charging by kennel size but rather by the dog. Dogs will be kenneled according to size and need.

The why behind this is two fold. One is that over the past few months of operation we have found the number of dogs we can care for well in keeping with our goal for quality is much lower than the number of dogs we can actually house. This is due to limited outdoor areas at this time. Therefore, we will not be operating at max capacity which gives us the ability to choose the right kennel size for your dog or dogs.
Number two goes along with that. Often times people pay for a kennel size and we find that their dog actually does better in a different size. This again gives us the flexibility to find the best fit for your dog.

Our new price effective immediately is $30 for the first dog and $25 for other dogs in the same family. This does not mean dogs are required to share a kennel.

The multiple dog discount only applies if dogs can be let out and walked together. If dogs in the same family must be kept separate at all times the charge is $30 per dog.

If you have any questions concerning our change in price, please reach out to us.

Thank you for growing with us as we continue to strive to provide the best care for the best price!

My First Dog...

They say a girlā€™s first love is her daddy. Well, my dog, Samson, may have been a close second. From my youngest memories, Samson was always there. He didnā€™t have a special pedigree or come from a long line of champion show dogs. As a matter of fact, Iā€™m not even quite sure where he came from or even what breed he was. All I know is that he was there. He was there by my side through most of my childhood years. He was there every time I stepped out the door to head out on an adventure in the fields. He was there running around the yard with me. He was there barking at the coyotes all night long, keeping his people safe. He was there sleeping in a leaf pile in the dead of winter when the fancy dog house I built him was right beside him. He was there in the tree house because he knew how to climb the ladder. He was there to lick my tears when my heart was broken.

Samson was without a doubt my best friend. He even saved my life once. At least thatā€™s how my adolescent self remembers it. On one beautiful summer day, Samson and I set out on one of our adventures. Today, I had decided we would go pick blackberries in a field that was over a mile away. We set off walking down the country road. Soon we arrived at the blackberry patch and I began filling my bucket. Samson was sniffing out a rabbit or mole somewhere nearby. All of the sudden out of nowhere came a huge German Shepherd barring his teeth. In a flash Samson was in front of me ready to protect me. The two dogs fought as I stood horrified that I was going to lose my best friend. Samson was a 3rd the size of that dog but he never gave in. I donā€™t know how or why but the big dog just gave up and ran off. Samson, however, was not left without injury. There in his neck was a hole the size of a golf ball. I carried him as far as I could toward home and when my little arms couldnā€™t carry him any farther, he walked as I cried. My parents said we didnā€™t have the money to take him to the vet. Honestly, I donā€™t think they expected him to live. I wrapped his little neck in paper towels and prayed. Oh, how I prayed. For a week I woke up every day expecting him to be dead from blood lose or infection. But every day he grew stronger. And before I knew it, my best friend was ready to take to the fields for another adventure.

As an 8-year-old, I was convinced that I was going to marry Samson one day. I guess lucky for my husband, dogs donā€™t live as long as we wish they could. Old age slowly started to take its toll on my boy. It took him a little longer to get up each time and he wasnā€™t up for quite as many adventures. One day, when I went out to find him, he was nowhere to be seen. I asked all the neighbors around if they had seen him but no one ever did. I held on to hope for months that one day he would come wandering back up the gravel road as he had so many times before. But alas he never did. Samson was gone but the memories I have of him will last forever.

Dogs can hold such a special place in our heart. If you are on this page, chances are you have a dog. Maybe your first dog was one from your childhood or one you got later on in life. I would love to hear about your first dog!

From now till Valentineā€™s day, tag someone in this post and tell me something about your first puppy love for a chance to be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card to the Boarding Barn! Winner will be announced Valentineā€™s day!

Did you know that we are a Veteran owned business? Well we are! Today we celebrate the Marine Corps birthday and this weekend we honor all those who have served our country and given so much for the sake of our freedom.
I am so grateful to live in a country where my kids can run free with their puppy dogs by their side.
As a military family we know first hand the sacrifice it requires. So to all those who have served or are still serving, we say, ā€œThank You!ā€

The Boarding Barn offers a %10 military discount to all active duty and veterans.
Mention your service when booking to receive your discount!

Good morning! I just wanted to share with yā€™all a little video showing the different sizes of kennels. Apparently iPhones do not allow you to flip the camera once you start record so I apologize in advance for not positioning the camera better. Also I failed to show you the open top medium kennel so I have posted that in the comments section. Enjoy!

Questionsā€¦

We have gotten lots of questions about our new business and so I thought I would share some of our frequently asked questions with you!

What are your prices?
Large kennels-$35
Medium kennels-$30
Small kennels-$25
A second dog boarding in the same kennel is an added $20.

Do you have any breed restrictions?
We do not have any breed restrictions. As long as the dog is not aggressive towards people it is welcome!

Do you offer play time with other dogs?
At this time we do not offer playtime with other dogs. All dogs will be kept separate from dogs not in their own household. Exceptions may be made with your permission only. In which case I would allow your dog to play with my own dogs only.

How often will my dog be let out?
Our commitment to you is that your dog will be let out at a minimum 3 times a day. They will be walked around our 6 acre property or allowed to play in our out door play yards. If the weather does not allow for those two things we have a large room they can run around in as well.

We know that leaving your dog is never easy but itā€™s even harder if you have unanswered questions. So to that we say, just ask! Ask all the questions you need to feel comfortable leaving your precious pup with us!

We Are Open!

First of all a HUGE thank you to everyone who has shared about us on Facebook. Your kind words and encouragement have meant so much to us!

Have you ever thrown a party and before the party you had about 50 things you wanted to get done but only ended up getting 40 of the things done. The party still happened and it turned out great but maybe wasnā€™t all you had hoped and dreamed?

Well to be real last week didnā€™t go as planned. Some sickness and set backs happened and everything isnā€™t as ā€œprettyā€ as we would like it to be. But you know what? Thatā€™s okay. There is still time! Lord willing, we will keeping improving and working hard everyday to make the Boarding Barn the best it can be!

The Boarding Barn is fully functional and
we ARE open!

You can message us on Facebook or email us at [email protected] to book your dogs stay.

We hope you enjoy seeing the pictures of the progress we have made at the Boarding Barn! I am sure there will be more to come!
