Welcome to Kitten Tales.
I believe every kitten has a tale, so I am going to start with my first cats Anya, Mr. Mouse Bigglesworth, and Fiona.
I watched some Cats 101 to decide which cat was perfect for me, and I narrowed it down to 3. A Somali, a Turkish Angora, and a Singapura. I told myself I would take the first 2 available.
My Anya came to me first (My Somali), from Arizona. What a beautiful fawn, fox like creature. Very sweet, and athletic. Total cuddle bug. I had made the perfect choice, she was lovely!
I was then notified that my Mr. Mouse Bigglesworth had been born. He came to me from Chicago. (My Singapura). When he arrived, I was in love! He plays fetch! He's a cat dog! Yes another amazing choice! I am the best cat picker EVER! So that's it right? I would stop at 2. NOPE!
I got a call shortly after saying My beautiful Fiona, had been born. Okay, three cats, surely not too many.
Fiona had arrived. She was the most beautiful and elegant creature, I had ever laid eyes on. Went to pick her up at the airport, she was shipped cargo, from Florida. (That will never happen with my babies.) They brought me a seemingly, cat-less carrier. I could see, a lovely pink cat bed, her bowls, a few toys, but no Fiona. I sat looking, no movement. My heart sank, so I opened the carrier, and lifted the bed. There she was in all her pinkness. Bright eyed, and alert, with ears much too big for her! She sat in my lap for the drive home, quite contently. Although her beauty overwhelmed me at first, her personality, and acrobats sealed the deal. Fiona was also very athletic, and sweet. She too, played fetch. Perfect! I have the three best cats on the planet! Yay me!
So with that being said, Fiona was the clear favorite. She would talk to me, when I asked her a question, she loved the water. I couldn't take a shower without her participation. As she grew up, she realized how high she could jump. She liked to sit on the top of the doors. Including the top of my shower door. I started looking for things I needed, on the floor. If the pen was on the counter, I knew to look for it on the floor under the counter. Every glass of water in the house, needed to be sampled by Fiona. If you had drank more than half, no worries, she'll just use her paw. Need help unloading the groceries? She's on it! Need help changing the sheets, there too. She is literally into everything. Fiona was not a cuddler though. At bed time, she would climb on my chest, smurgle my pillow and purr for about 10 minutes, while I pet her, before heading to the top of my pillow to sleep. I remodeled my whole house for this baby. Ho, you like walking on the high balcony, let me carpet that for you, so you don't slip. You can't reach that 12ft window? I'll build you a catwalk under it, with steps so you can reach it. This cat was the love of my life! She made me laugh out loud every single day. I thought I wanted a cuddly cat, but it turns out, not so much. lol
I lost my sweet Fiona to cancer two years ago. To say I was devastated, is very much an understatement, its even hard to type right now. The lack of her presence, echoed through my home.
After about 6 months, I decided to start "browsing" some Turkish Angora breeders on-line. I would breed this magnificent cat, everyone should experience a Turkish Angora. That's when I found Finnland Cattery, and Kim Langille...
