Very interesting.
Who Were Abbas Pasha I and Ali Pasha Sherif?
Abbas Pasha I, Viceroy of Egypt (1848-1854 CE), continued Mohammed Ali's breeding program, preserving those noble Arabian lines. He kept strict records of his herd, which he compiled in the "Abbas Pasha Manuscript." The death of Abbas Pasha I brought on years of neglect, nearly decimating the herd.
Ali Pasha Sherif, a notable breeder in Egypt, purchased much of what remained of Abbas Pasha's stud at auction. He continued to import horses from the desert and at one point owned over 400 purebred Arabians.
