Fireworks can be scary for pets. The huge bursts of light and sound cause pets to panic and run away from home.

It is important that every pet has a collar and ID tags with a contact number. It is also highly recommended that all pets get microchipped, in order to locate them quicker. If your pet is already microchipped, please make sure your information is updated. You can do this by taking your pet or their microchip paperwork to a pet store, vet’s office, or shelter. If pets prefer to be outside, please keep them on at least a 6-foot leash.

Please note that most shelters in North Texas are over capacity. We highly advise you to take all precautionary measures to ensure your pets stay safe at home on the 4th of July!
