Today Laney came in to see is for her final round of puppy shots. She’s been attending Puppy School @ Resort for Pets at Eagle Mountain Lake and we got to see some of her training so far! She JUST finished her second class ❤️❤️❤️
Invisible to the naked eye, these creepy crawlies are known as Ear Mites! Dr Louisa spotted these nasties living in a bunny's ears, making for a very uncomfortable and painful situation. Thankfully this case had been caught early on, and with a topical medication the bunny will be back to his happy hoppy self in a few weeks!
Meet the magnificent Libby. This beauty came to see us a few weeks ago feeling funky with an upper respiratory infection. Today was her recheck exam and after an antibiotic course she is feeling great again!
Mosquitos are nobody’s favorite insect, here at Boat Club Road Animal Hospital we have a very specific reason for not liking those blood sucking nasties.
Below, we have a video of a HEARTWORM LARVAE, or more scientifically microfilaria, in the blood of one of our patients. Heartworms are a type of parasitic worm that can grow up to be a foot in length, carried by mosquitos. Transferred in the blink of an eye when a mosquito bites your dog, these horrible parasites will make a home out of the vessels in the lungs and hearts of your fuzzy family members. They can be found in large numbers in those areas; here in Fort Worth we have one of the highest concentrations of Heartworm. They cause a myriad of problems, the treatment is extensive and expensive.
Heartworms are easily preventable with the use of monthly preventatives, either as a topical liquid applied on the skin or as an oral tablet prescribed by a vet. At Boat Club Road Animal Hospital, we offer an array of preventatives, including Proheart6, an injection that lasts for 6 months.
Call to schedule your Heartworm test today and get your pup protected!
