‼️📢‼️Bastrop shelter (Austin, TX) Gemini is a blue female, docked tail. She is available for adoption or rescue! Estimated age is 12-16 months old. Just a puppy!
●The last time we networked a Bastrop shelter Dobe a few months ago, it was euthanized 2 days prior to the deadline we were given. No one came for that dog.) Let's get Gemini help!

📣"Gemini is very sweet & gentle but a little insecure. Kind & calm with humans.
She was dog tested. No negative reactions but was insecure meeting. Would hold one of her front legs up showing fear & insecurity.
Heartworm status is unknown – they don’t test until an animal is spayed/neutered.
Appears healthy so far; has received dhpp, bordetella, flea/tick and dewormer. (Will be spayed for adoption.)"

❤️UPDATE - Bella has been adopted!

‼️📣Bella is a fawn female whose owner dumped her in the shelter in Abilene. (Even after they contacted us for help & we agreed to help but they weren't committed & dumped her instead!) So Bella is now in the shelter & terrified there, stressed & traumatized, while previously she was happy, playful & a total sweetheart in her original home. From previous owner: She lived with a lab & did well, is potty trained. Loves tennis balls, doesn't try to escape a fenced yard, is anxious riding in a car for more than 10-15 min so would not be a good travel partner, has mild fear of storms & moderate fear of fireworks. She is crate trained & likes squeaky toys. She will need some basic manners training help because she does tend to (non-aggressively) hig/block/guard the water bowl with another dog around & will need a playmate who actually wants company & to play! Otherwise another dog may be overwhelmed by Bella. She will also be great as an only dog. (But that was the only negative comment from the original owner.) You can alao simply have 2 wayer bowls in different areas- so simple! This is a really great girl!
🗣Shelter staff comments: Estimated age 2-4 yrs. "Medium to low energy. Did well when tested in the yard with both male & female dogs. Very sweet. A little (shy) when first meeting other dogs, but perked up when she was let off leash. Did well with a juvenile male and a high energy spunky female. Very sweet demeanor.
All vetting included with adoption, she is heartworm positive but the shelter is providing heartworm treatment now." Typical fawn coat with some thinning hair areas. Totally normal for a fawn, read about it online.

‼️SHARE❗️📣Dolly & Faith were a part of a cruelty neglect seizure case in Abilene. They have gained some weight & have been well cared for at the shelter & are now available (together or separately) for adoption, foster or rescue directly through the shelter.

"Dolly and Faith are 18 mth old females, (possibly littermates) have done well with other dogs when tested & are pretty spunky, energetic and playful. They are just happy to experience (regular meals, love, fun & affection.)

Welcome (officially) Finnegan & Faya! Today was their official to their San Antonio foster & it went well. They're settling in nicely. They've had a bath & will see the vet ASAP for their injuries. They're very docile & sweet so far. ❤️

#3 this week. 😥 2014 LSDR alum Fritz gained his wings this morning. 12 years old, congestive heart failure via DCM. Fritz was a stray 10 yrs ago when we brought him into LSDR, and SO SWEET, gentle and silly. He stole his foster mom's heart pretty quick. Just a good boy, well behaved & easy. This is a hard loss for his foster family. Please keep them in your prayers.

💰We need financial help ASAP! They are dehydrated, have several injuries, covered in fleas & ticks, are underweight and there's a strong chance the female is pregnant! Please donate! This is an unexpected double whammy expense after 5 new intakes last week.
‼️This pair has been roaming looking for food/water for a week in a rural remote area with zero animal control shelter options. We called them for help! But they said if they're not sick/injured/dangerous, they leave them to starve/injury/die because they have no shelter in the city or county! So with the help of a local animal lover in that area, we have secured them off the streets & in a very temporary outdoor 10×10 kennel on private property.

-So 10, since Monday. Ten in just 3 days. There will be more tomorrow, and the next day... Impossible. There's no way to even begin to help 50 dogs a month. Not even close.
And it's this way all over Texas, for all dogs, not just Dobes.
❗️PEOPLE!!! Take care of your pets. Be a responsible owner. Call a certified trainer for behavior help! Use heartworm prevention! Spay & neuter! Stop this madness.
These dogs never asked to be born. They are victims of irresponsible breeders & your irresponsible ownership decisions. Help them!!! Shelters are over capacity, rescues are over capacity. We're tired. Your dog needs YOU! YOU doing right by your dog is the answer.
And OMG STOP dumping them on the streets or country for an unbearable amount of suffering and tragic death.

More sad news came today. 2013 LSDR alum Apollo (originally Emmitt) has gained his wings. He had an incredible life, where his every desire and need was catered to by his family. He went to his forever home as a foster, to a family who adores the breed but had only had show bred Dobes. But his personality was so special, they immediately fell in love & were a in just 2 weeks!
Please keep Apollo's family in your prayers. 🌈🪽🐾

Sad news came today. 2014 LSDR alum Dixie has fought hard this last year & overcome or maintained with many senior issues, but the latest hit hard, Osteosarcoma, wasn't a fight to be won. Dixie lived an incredible life with her family, living creekside on over 10 acres to explore every day, to spending most of her summers in Colorado on weekly hikes. She was as much of a pistol as she was a lover. Her family is heartbroken. Please keep them in your prayers. 🌈🪽🐾

Meet Wilson! This handsome guy is dreamy! A total cuddle bug! Wilson is 4 yrs old & has lived with kids & cats well! He is potty trained, knows a few basic commands, great with female dogs over 40 lbs. He rides well in the car, enjoys walks & is a constant companion. He also loves toys & loves to play. He's also crate trained. Fantastic temperament & and a total hunk!

‼️URGENT‼️8/12- Bo is a senior, appx 8 yrs old and needs a new foster by this weekend. His current foster is having to move in with family unexpectedly & Bo is not allowed. Super sweet boy, great with female dogs- can also be with male dogs but with careful management & monitoring and limited periods of time, he is used to being rotated. He is crate & potty trained although he doesn't love the crate & does much better with a just a baby gated area. No cats. Never been around kids. Bo has had a rough life already, original owner left him to live alone outside, isolated and then dumped him at the shelter when he got older. And now he's losing his foster home. He needs a hero.
📍We are a statewide (TX) rescue & we can bring Bo to you in TX, & parts of OK/LA/AR, so his current location doesn't matter.

📣Tues, 8/27, 9pm- Cerena is still in need! The shelter said they have not had any interest in her! She is such a doll. This is a small west TX shelter with little traffic or networking. PLEASE SHARE!
‼️San Angelo, TX! Cerena is a black female with docked tail, apprx 2 yrs old. She has been in the city shelter since June 25th but we were just notified.
🗣Shelter says she's "super friendly with a sweet soul; Cerena did very well in our playgroup with other dogs. She is an absolute doll and very sweet. She loved being able to play."
We have no other information!

Sad news arrived yesterday. 2021 LSDR senior alum June gained her wings. She was part of a bonded pair (other half is a younger male named Alvin) and she lived the best years of her life with a very devoted mom who is now heartbroken over this loss. But we know Alvin will help her heal. Please keep June's mom in your prayers.

Exciting news for our sweet Xena! She had to unexpectedly move foster homes recently and she's such a good girl and she fit so perfectly, they decided in just one week Xena was an unexpected, yet very happy ! Xena is ! And LSDR alum Lucian has a new little sister & favorite playmate. ❤️

Update to get a glimpse of Aries incredible personality and temperament. Aries went from living isolated & alone in a backyard from a 6 wk old puppy to a 5 yr old adult- his whole life, outside 365 days a year, 24/7... ... to quietly playing by himself in the early morning hours while waiting for his foster mom to take him on his morning walk (video 1), to demanding pets & affection regularly (video 2), to playing with his foster sibling & toys daily. He LOVES his new life and LOVES being indoors. These videos are from days 6-9 after arriving to a foster home.
Available soon for adoption. Who ever gets this guy will be so lucky! He is a special one.

Original story: Aries is 5 yrs old & LOVES people & craves attention, however he has lived his entire life isolated outside alone in a very small, dirty yard, even as a baby puppy. His family only brought him inside when it was below freezing outside for a couple of hours occasionally. They travel two-three times a month for 5 days at a time & leave him alone with someone only coming to feed/water him every 3 days. We need to move him to a foster immediately. He has done well in their laundry room for a couple of hours in the winter & not had potty or chew accidents. Again, he is so friendly. But hrs never known life outside of this very limited environment, no walks, Care rides, vet visits so foster will need to be patient and go very slow.
❗️FOSTER needed! We cover all vet costs & will supply a crate and food if needed.

❤️UPDATE! Below is Aires original story we shared a few weeks ago. Exciting news... , from that to this! He's been with us in an amazing foster home who said YES and took a chance on Aires. You wouldn't even know he's the same dog. The 2nd photo taken less than 5 hours with his foster. In the last week, we've seen an incredible transformation. This boy is a total doll! Loves people, affection, loves other dogs, loves leashed walks, rides good in the car, hasn't had a single potty accident and LOVES being indoors & part of a family.
He'll be available for adoption soon.
