Very sad & unexpected news this morn. 2017 LSDR alum Stoli passed in her sleep overnight. Sudden death is such a quick & peaceful way for them to go but so shocking & hard for those who love them. Stoli was a beautiful girl & her mom is shocked, especially just losing her senior male not too long ago. Please keep Stoli's family in your prayers.
A very sad reminder that beauty & age doesn't promise health or longevity.
Rest easy Stoli. Go find Fritz & keep wait for your mama.

We received word this morning that precious old man Diego, 2012 LSDR alum experienced sudden death. He was apprx 13 ½ yrs old. Such a blessing but never long enough. Diego was adopted as a young guy & we later took him back through no fault of his own. He was adopted a 2nd time at 8 yrs old & had an amazing life of travel & fun for all his senior years. Sweetest boy, so deserving.
Rest easy.

🗣Beautiful, sweet Forest is a 12-18 mth old male who came in as a stray 11/27 at only 33 lbs, with every bone in his body protruding, a skeleton, & a mild injury on his back foot that's being treated. He got adopted immediately but was returned within 1 day because they decided they were too busy for a dog. So he's back & now urgent. Fully vetted & heartworm negative. Tested well with female dogs of similar size, but did not test well with male dogs. Super friendly with people. No info on cats or kids.
Forest ID # A737072
●Available for foster, adoption or rescue through the shelter.

Sweet Gunnar, 2015 LSDR alum passed suddenly this week from a large mass that ruptured. He was just a small puppy when we rescued him, believing he was a Doberman pup, as did his adopting family. But as he grew, we quickly saw he was not a Dobe at all. But still beautiful & wonderful! He was very loved & adored greatly by his family & had a beautiful life with them. Please keep them in your prayers.

We're finally able to share some very happy news for our , Finnegan & Faya that we rescued several months ago as strays out in the middle of nowhere on a remote country road. They're finally healthy enough to be & it was a double ! We love a perfect foster fail story. These 2 are the sweetest & best & their new mama adores them.

is almost here. This year, our focus is on these 2 new intake medical cases. Shiloh is a fun, sweet 4 yr old female with liver disease & bladder crystals. And Marucs is a 2 yr old severe neglect case, blind and heartworm positive who loves people, despite what's he's been through.
~Shiloh's liver is in initial treatment stages but will need updated labs & she'll likely need an ultrasound & liver biopsy in 30-45 days, and her bladder crystals are being treated now, and will redo labs to see where we are in 30 days. (If the liver is not treated correctly, it can cause liver failure, and if crystal aren't treated correctly, the crystals can turn in to stones, cause a blockage & emergency surgery.)
~Marcus was in terrible shape when found as a stray. He will need to see an ophthalmologist veterinarian specialist to see what is wrong with his vision and eye health to see if we can help him, & he just had bloodwork done Friday 11/29 & we are awaiting those results. He will also need to be neutered eventually.
-Taking on 2 medical cases at once can add up to several thousands of dollars spent within weeks. Please consider a donation of any amount this to help us help them!

Sad news came yesterday. 2017 LSDR alum Bentley (formerly Chase) gained his wings after bloat & torsion. Bentley was part of a large 16 dog seizure case we handled in 2017. He was completely loved & adored. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Welcome Marcus to LSDR! This boy is so sweet, l♡ves human touch, despite what he's been through. He's blind (might be able to see shadow) & HW+ and has some other health issues. He'll see our vet ASAP & we'll update once we know more.
Please consider a donation of any amount to help us get him healthy. He'll also need to see an Opthalmologist Veterinarian to see if there's anything we can do for his sight. Big thanks to new/first time foster Jenna! Help us welcome Marcus & Jenna both to LSDR!

Welcome Monte to rescue! He is about 8-12 months old & was starving, living abandoned on the street & threatened to be shot. He is such a sweetheart. He's been in a temporary foster for 2 weeks & she calls him a gentleman & says he's so polite. He's great with other dogs & cats too! He's moving to an LSDR foster next week & we'll learn more & get his vetting done. Watch for more information when he's listed as available for adoption in a few weeks.

UPDATE ❤️- This boy has been tagged by a rescue. Thanks for sharing!
*
‼️🚨‼️WACO SHELTER! Capitan is an owner surrender so he doesn't have to be held for stray hold & shelter is at max capacity. He's in danger of immediate euthanasia!
Shelter says 🗣 ID # A114080, Neutered blue male, 18 mo old, intake date 11/13/24, Owner Surrender. Reason: “No Time”
Temperament: Shy/restless. Seems friendly with staff but is nervous. Playful when out in day yard with good energy. He is mouthy when playing, but easily redirected. Barks when excited and ready to play. Dog testing: He has not been tested with other dogs yet. However, when walking past other dogs in their runs he does not seem to mind them. Heartworm negative. Fully vaccinated. Dewormer was also given (per standard shelter intake protocols). No injuries or sickness.
Need him out ASAP as we have no space for incoming dogs. We are having to make list daily for space related euthanasia. He needs an out FAST.
●Available for foster, adoption or rescue through the shelter.
