Founded in November 2010, Leah Vahrenkamp had a vision: provide people convenient, affordable, and reliable pet care from the confines of their own homes. What started with the introductory letter below has grown into much more than she expected:
As you all know, I have a passion for animals. And it has occurred to me that in these economic times, people are becoming more and more successful foll
owing their dreams and their passions by starting their own business. Earlier this year, I was boarding my own sweet Ashby. She is getting older and more territorial by instinct, and ended up having an incident with another dog at her “daycare” facility. Not to worry, neither dog was too terribly injured, but I did end up paying for a few stitches for the other pet. Therefore, I haven’t much more choice than to keep her home versus using a higher priced service at a kennel or other sort of facility. Due to this development – and I have done some in-home pet sitting for some of you as well – I have made the decision to offer my services to the public. There are bound to be more people out there who might not have the luxury of using kennels, daycares, “hotels”, etc, or just do not want their beloved out of the comfortable surroundings of their homes. Where do you come into play, you ask? Well, as my friends and family, I not only want to offer my services to you, but I would like to ask you to help me spread the word about my new venture. With only one client under her belt, Leah knew her current job wouldn’t last much longer and she needed to do something. What started as a supplemental income to her office position, Leah juggled the two for the better part of the next year, and upon finally falling to a downsizing trend in her company, she had Waggin’ Tails Pet Sitting in full swing to cushion the blow. Partner Randy Brown had just finished a nearly 5 year stint in the pet service industry when Waggin’ Tails was born, and was eager to use his business acumen to help Leah forge ahead into new territories with her fledgling company. Working together since 11/2010, they have acquired well over 100 clients through strict word of mouth advertising and referrals. If the initial idea was to provide pet care, the young upstart has blossomed into much more. Not just offering pet care, Waggin’ Tails Pet Sitting truly offers peace of mind for pet and home owners, providing professional In-Home pet siting and house sitting services that are at once convenient, affordable and discreet. No one needs to know there is an empty house while you’re traveling, therefore in the interest of privacy, Waggin’ Tails does not utilize any car magnets or wraps that might jeopardize a customer’s home. Plain clothes and unassuming vehicles in conjunction with house sitting services are provided with all pet sitting reservations. Alternating lights, shades/curtains, mail/newspaper pickup and even plant watering are all included with pet sitting services – at no additional fees. We do not like being nickel and dimed and are sure our clients don’t either. And to top it all, your pets get to stay home in their comfortable environment and you enjoy the convenience of making no extra stops while leaving or arriving from your trip while your friendly, loving pet is there to meet you when you get home. Hi y'all! We've just emerged from the BUSIEST SUMMER WE'VE EVER HAD! All thanks to YOU, and we want to thank you all so much! Therefore y'all haven't heard much from us in a bit. Rather than hit you with several posts I'll include the majority all in this message.

Hey Y'all! The two most frequently asked questions we get at Waggin' Tails are:
1) May I request a specific time for my pet sitting visit?
2) What are your routing hours?
Both are great questions, so please allow me to answer both of those below!
Unfortunately, no, we are unable to guarantee specific times for pet sitting visits. Due to routing and routes growing/shrinking throughout the week, times can vary from day to day. Our goal though is to never leave a pet alone for more than 12 hours at a time, or at least as reasonably close to 12 hours as we can achieve.
We have 3 routes per day.
AM – 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM
Midday – 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
PM – 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM
With these times, please be mindful that our routes begin at the starting time and are over at the finish time, if not earlier.
