I seriously fallen behind on updates to Opal’s Farm. For that I apologize to our many friends and followers. Spring has sprung, my knee is going to require surgery, and I’m falling farther and farther behind our Spring planting. I still have lots of greens, the tomatoes are close (waiting for the first round to ripen!), and the peppers are in full bloom. I should have sugar snap peas and green beans next week.
If you have some spare time, I would love to have you come and volunteer at the farm. You can either sign up on our Opal’s Farm page at the Unity Unlimited website or call us direct to schedule a time. We are there from 9AM to 3PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (harvest day) and from 9AM to 4PM on Saturday. There’s nothing like playing in the dirt to renew and refresh us all. We’ll keep you busy!
We also opened our farm stand Saturday, May 3rd, at the corner of 4th and Sylvania. We will be there each week on Saturday mornings from 8AM to Noon. We’ll still be at Cowtown Farmers Market at Veterans Park on Saturdays as well.
Because staffing issues are fluid right now, the farmstand will always get the priority. Our mission is to serve our neighborhood and provide access to fresh produce to those to whom access has traditionally been denied.
See you Saturday!
