Perseverance is key!
This might seem like a strange video to post, but a first time in history event has taken place and we want to share the story!
First time ever, that is been said before at SDP Buffalo Ranch. This case, started with Anthony Galliers of South Africa reaching out in 2017 with the dream of importing semen to SA by premier American stallions.
Red tape is something SDP and our longtime and beloved Breeding Manager Kim Gardner have grown accustomed to. But this one ended up being extreme!
Because of Anthony's continued efforts and Kim's navigating 3 foreign state governments, this video is showing the crossing from Botswana over the river and into South Africa. You've got that right, no joke!
To quote Anthony:
"Just a mail to say many, many thanks for every thing you guys did for us.
The flask eventually arrived in our hometown yesterday after having to cross from Botswana by boat.
Video clip showing the epic last complicated stage of the trip to us.
It has been a huge undertaking โ 6 years later can you believe it.
I have learnt a lot, aged and at times been tested.
But we are blessed to have it here safe at our local semen storage warehouse ready for breeding in October.
We truly appreciate everything you guys did to make this happen and I am sure there were many a time when you thought โplease go awayโ.
So thank you guys for not giving up on our dream โ we know that this was only made possible because of your help, patience and support.
We are truly indebted to you guys for what you have done for us.
I canโt tell you in enough words what this has meant to us and the quarter horse breed in South Africa.
So the next stage is getting the semen across to the 12 breeders and getting mares in foal."
2024 there will be up to 40 foals born in South Africa owned by 12 very happy and excited breeders.
