But wait, there's more! Choco boasts a pair of captivating blue eyes that will melt your heart. They twinkle with mischief and sparkle with joy, making him even more irresistible.

Choco is a quick study and will learn your commands faster than you can say "treat!" He's a bit of a goofball, but his charm is undeniable. He's looking for an active family who can keep up with his boundless energy and shower him with love.

Note: Choco may occasionally try to "help" with cooking by licking the spoon (don't worry, he's harmless!). He also snores like a tiny engine.

Gertrude. The cat with ultimate sass.

If you’re looking for a friend with peak senior rabble-rousing energy, Gertrude is the girl for you. Gertrude acts tough but the secret is she only has one tooth in her whole head. She is fully ready to commit crimes but also always has a hard candy in the bottom of her purse as a little treat. She would love to purr in your lap while you yell at the kids to get off your dang lawn.

Gertrude comes complete with her distinguished old lady sweater and biscuit-making action.

He’s a little spicy, super sweet, and truly one of a kind. Known for his incredible ability to connect with the senior citizens we serve, Oscar makes every person and pet feel cared for and valued. You may have heard the heartbreaking story of the Trashcan Puppies right here in Fort Worth—eight tiny souls found dumped in a garbage can on New Year's Day. Thankfully, their story is transforming into one of hope, love, and a first chance at the life they deserve. These three sweet pups, Dublin, O'Mally, and Paddy, are ready to find their forever homes!

Come meet them at our Puppypalooza Adoption Event this Wednesday, January 8th, at PetSmart Montgomery Plaza from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You’ll also meet other incredible puppies looking for their perfect families (HSNT is bursting at the seams with puppies!).

They both arrived at the ranch in need of care and time to build trust with people after not being handled for many years. They have thrived in our groundwork foundation program and are now two pocket ponies that follow you wherever you go 🥰

Meet our fox4news Pet of the Week!

Ralph—a 4-year-old dog with an incredible story of resilience and hope.

Ralph came to us as part of a cruelty case, arriving at the shelter severely underweight and in desperate need of care. Thanks to the compassion and dedication of our team, Ralph has made an amazing transformation, putting on healthy weight and blossoming into a loving, playful companion.

Ralph is a people-lover through and through—he’s never met a person he didn’t like! Whether it’s going for walks (he’s a pro on the leash) or playing with toys (fetch is his favorite, though he’s still perfecting the “bring it back” part), Ralph’s joyful personality shines through.

While Ralph is still building his confidence around other dogs, he’s making great progress with our team’s support. He’s highly food-motivated, knows how to sit, and is eager to learn more. However, Ralph’s playful nature can sometimes get the best of him, so we recommend a cat-free home for this lively boy.

One thing’s for sure: Ralph craves human connection. His kennel anxiety speaks to how much he wants to be with his people, making him the perfect fit for a family ready to shower him with the love and attention he deserves.

The Fort Worth Trashcan Puppies: A Story of Survival and Compassion

‼️On New Year’s Day, while most of us were easing into the new year, one of our most dedicated volunteers, Matt, was out walking his dog, Dublin, in Crestwood Park, right here in Fort Worth. What started as a peaceful morning quickly turned into a lifesaving mission.

Matt heard faint whimpers coming from a garbage can. When he looked inside, he was horrified to find eight tiny puppies—abandoned, freezing, and scared. With no food, water, or warmth, their survival was uncertain. Alone in the park, Matt carefully carried them back to his home in shifts, determined to save them all.

Thanks to his quick thinking and compassion, the puppies are now safe and receiving the medical care they need. If all goes well, they’ll be ready for adoption next week, but their journey to recovery isn’t over yet.

Your donations ensure we can act without hesitation to save lives like these eight puppies.

Matt has volunteered an incredible 1,300 hours with us over the past year, and now he’s stepping up once more. He’s generously offered to match every donation up to $1,300—a dollar for every hour he’s given to help pets in need.

Wings of Rescue has officially committed to overcrowded Texas shelters to their flight schedule, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with them on their incredible lifesaving mission. Their work perfectly aligns with our motto—Pets and People, Saving Each Other®.

This past week, Wings of Rescue transported nearly 90 pets, including many large dogs and cats. Larger dogs often face longer stays in shelters, making this transport a significant milestone in giving them a second chance at finding loving homes.

To our dedicated staff, amazing volunteers, supportive community, and the incredible team at Wings of Rescue—thank you for your unwavering commitment to saving lives.

Here’s to many more lifesaving flights from Texas to northern states, where open kennels and fewer overpopulation challenges await our shelter pets. Together, we’re making a difference!
