On this holy day, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, we reflect on the role of the humble donkey in His story. From carrying Mary to Bethlehem to symbolizing peace and servitude, these gentle creatures remind us of God’s grace and purpose in even the simplest of lives.

Our rescued donkeys, once forgotten, now live safe and loved—just as Christ calls us to care for the least of these. Today, let us cherish the blessings of love, redemption, and new beginnings.

On this blessed Christmas Eve, as the animals of our sanctuary enjoy their hay, we are reminded of the humble beginnings of our Savior, born in a manger surrounded by creatures great and small.

Here at Creekside, we see the beauty and peace of God’s creation every day. Each animal here is a testament to His love, grace, and the hope of redemption.

We are so grateful for your prayers, support, and generosity that allow us to provide care and comfort to these precious souls. May this holy night fill your hearts with peace and joy as we celebrate the greatest gift of all—Jesus Christ.

Here at Creekside, we're always looking for ways to improve. This past weekend, we spent 2 days at a Downunder Horsemanship clinic presented by Clinton Anderson. We learned many things, some of which we'll implement with the horses here at the sanctuary. While we feel no method contains everything, we use opportunities like these to reevaluate our approach and make adjustments as need. As you're aware, no horse is the same. We feel better prepared to address some ongoing issues, and in turn make our horses safer for everyone they encounter. The last thing we need is dangerous horses around volunteers and children!!

*We don't endorse the Downunder Horsemanship training in any way, and urge all horse owners to do their due diligence when following advice of ANY trainer! There are pieces of his training that we'll absolutely NOT use, but others that we feel will be valuable in our training toolbox.

!URGENT!!
Christmas is 3 days away, and the horses are almost out of hay! As a matter of fact, they'll be out of Tuesday. But, because of the holidays, our hay source will be unavailable that day. We desperately need to make a hay run TOMORROW (Monday) so ensure the horses don't have to go without until he opens back up. We need $175 for 5 bales of hay and must have the funds before we can schedule our pickup! Thank you to ALL who've donated and/or shared our posts!! Every penny counts, and we know this time of year is difficult for all financially. We've got to keep our promise to the horses here and ensure they have full bellies and warm bodies!

Happy Thanksgiving! Today on the farm, we are deeply grateful for the precious moments shared with family and loved ones. Our farm friends join us in expressing heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported them along the way. We feel truly blessed to care for these animals, and it’s all possible because of your kindness and generosity. Thank you for being a part of our journey!

The time may change and the sun may set earlier, but life still continues on here at the rescue! You pivot and do what needs to be done for the good of the animals! Peaches had her farrier visit by lamplight earlier this week!

The weather changes are killing us - we are currently cleaning, packing, and wrapping 3 horses' hooves due to lameness, mostly from the changing wet/dry wreaking havoc on their frogs. We have a handful of dire needs right now:
1. Hay. With the cold temps, the horses are going through hay quicker than usual. We need $200 to cover 5 bales, which will last 1 week.
2. Medical supplies - we need sugar, vet wrap, gauze, and duct tape! We pack hooves with gauze coated in a sugar/iodine mix, then wrap with vet wrap and cover with duct tape to protect from outside moisture. We have plenty of iodine, but are running low on the rest.

If you can spare even a few dollars to help cover these critical needs, we would be so appreciative!

We've currently received enough donations to cover 4 bags of grain! Urgent!! Right now, we are down to just 2 bags of feed—enough to last only 2 days. After that, we don’t know what we’ll do.

Every animal here has a story of survival. They’ve faced neglect, abuse, or abandonment, and they made it through because of you—our incredible supporters. Now, they need your love and compassion more than ever.

Each bag of feed costs $32, and we go through 1 bag a day to keep everyone nourished and healthy. If we can’t replenish our supply, the animals who depend on us—like Fig the pig, Moolissa the cow, and Big Jake the gentle draft mule—will go hungry.

Peaches is such a diva! And when I tell yall she LOVES farrier day, I'm being totally honest. This girl falls asleep multiple times throughout her appointment. We often have to wake her up to get her to pick up her feet 😂 We are so grateful for the supporters who make these vital appointments possible!!! Sweet little RJ, as he was affectionately known in our house, has crossed the rainbow bridge 😔 He was doing SO GOOD, getting stronger by the day, and even walking on 3 legs. On Sunday, he began having seizures and bouts of anger spells (growling, snapping, and hissing). He also stopped eating and drinking. Monday saw a little improvement, but the seizures worsened and became more frequent. Because it was a long holiday weekend, we couldn't get him seen until Tuesday. The vet knew right away that it wasn't something he could recover from, and we agreed that the kindest act would be to let him go and end his suffering 💔 He is buried out back, alongside our beloved dogs that crossed the bridge over the years, and is no longer struggling with a failing body. THANK YOU to all who donated funds and items to him!! He loved his heartbeat stuffies and it was obvious that they helped calm him. All funds were used to pay for his care. Here's a video of the goodest boy enjoying some muscadines from our vines. And so begins halter training! This girl is going to be huge (she's 3 weeks old and already the size of our miniature horses), so we need to ensure we're able to safely handle her when she's an adult. She's also dropping in to let everyone know that we're down to our last 2 bags of grain, and last bale of hay!!! We'll be out of grain on Thursday, and will be putting the last bale of hay out tomorrow. I LOATHE asking for donations, but I also know that donations don't come in unless we ask. Happy 1 week gotcha day beautiful girl!! This week, Moolissa has grown so much! She came in very sick. Within 24 hours, she began having an awful wet cough. It's not unusual for these babies to develop pneumonia when they go through auction. The conditions are unsanitary at best. We immediately started her on strong antibiotics and within a few days, her cough was gone 🙌 However, with the antibiotics came a horrible upset stomach. She already suffered from scours, so that made things much worse. Honestly, I was very guarded when she came in. She didn't want to eat, and she was nearly lethargic. Now, she's drinking 6 bottles per day, and looks forward to her daily zoomies! We are so excited to see her thrive!
