Keeping pets safe during the holiday fireworks.
The epitome of summer comes just after the summer solstice, on July 4. This holiday is often full of patriotism, barbecues, pool parties, and fireworks. Though the celebrations are jam-packed with entertainment, it can be an anxious time for your pet. In fact, more pets go missing during the July 4th holiday than any other time of the year.
It isn’t just the patriotic holiday — the entire season of summer is the most common time for dogs to go missing. There are many factors that influence this, “Barbecues, many people coming in and out of the house, and even the noise of the fireworks, which may cause pets to panic and they will try to flee somewhere. They don’t know where the noise is coming from and they try to escape because they don’t understand.”
However, with the right preparation and knowledge, you can keep your dog safe.

Here are a few things to do to keep your pets safe this 4th of July….
- [ ] Bring outdoor kitties inside. Inside is the safest place.
- [ ] Isolate pet in an interior room with soft music and toys to create a calming environment.
- [ ] Keep pets away from windows during high firework times.
- [ ] Make sure pets are microchipped or have a gps collar on if going out for potty breaks.
- [ ] Do not take pets to firework displays.
- [ ] Talk to your veterinarian about medication to calm your pet. (If needed)

Our office will be closed on Thursday, July 4th. Our staff will be on the property to care for our boarding guests, but we will not be open to the public. Our daycare will be closed from Wednesday July 3 thru Friday July 5th.

Our hearts are full and it’s thanks to the fantastic individuals & their dogs who make Dog Trainers Workshop & Boarding shine. To our incredible clients, our community & the city of Fountain Inn…. Thank you for being a part of our wonderful journey. Here’s to many more moments of friendship, fun & fur. We will continue to provide the best possible boarding experience to old friends and new.
