By far one of our favorite traditions as a small business is being able to give back to the many wonderful educators in our lives. For the 3rd year in a row, we were able to dedicate close to $500 from our August ReptiCon sales to fulfilling wishlists of local educators and donating a bioactive isopod terrarium to a local pre-k classroom to help fill their science center with excitement and exploration! Thanks to all of our customers for helping make this tradition possible!

I got two new friends at the previous Raleigh Repticon, two Orchid Preying Mantids. I’ve always wanted to work with them and finally went for it. They have been super fascinating to watch.

My newest addition to the hobby room, and he’s posing so nicely! I purchased this little guy labeled as a Ghost Mantis. It did not take long to realize there was definitely some mislabeling. From online the community it seems I have a Giant Malaysian Twig Mantis. I’m not even disappointed! If that’s what this guy is, that’s pretty neat. They get big! And as adults they can eat snakes, birds and amphibians 😳. This is his home so we’ll see what happens.
