Benson Fire Department is hosting the FF Rescue OPS 1 North Carolina Firefighter Certification Block Class beginning Monday evening October 7th at 6:00pm.

The FF Ops 8 class will be finishing up this week and will then be taking the next couple weeks off for a break. We will then resume with 3 more classes that is now scheduled. We have put off the FF Ops 9 class till after the first of the year.

Again a huge shout out and Thank you to Instructor Dane Smith for delivering great material and real life experience.
And Thanks to Instructor Wayne Sasser for being our test proctor. We have continued having great participation with some amazing students from many different fire departments from 5 counties.
I would also like so send a Thank You out to E.G. Burr for facilitating and setting the classes up.

Below is the current schedule and dates for the upcoming FF Rescue OPS 1, TIMS, Safety and Survival, FF Fire and Life Safety Initiatives classes as they are now set in stone. Around the end of November we plan to schedule the last 4 classes and possible look into hosting an EMT class.

If you or someone you know would like to attend a class or 2 or pick up and start with the rest of these classes, make sure they show up on the first night of class to get registered. We are still continuing with Mondays and Thursday nights with an occasional Saturday as we still feel this is a good schedule for todays volunteers and is at a slower steady pace but seems to be working good for most everyone with a job, has a family, and is involved in other activities.

Today is our 14th Annual Fireman’s Day Giveaway! We are once again offering 35 chances to win with a $10,000 grand prize. Tickets are only $20. Come to Station 1 to buy your tickets.

Beginning at 5 pm, we will have BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, and pints of BBQ for sale during the event.

The drawing will begin at 6 pm at Station 1 and also live-streamed on Facebook starting at 6:00 pm on Saturday, October 5th.

PLEASE HELP WESTERN NC!!

The Town of Four Oaks is partnering with Johnston County by accepting donations this week for delivery to Western NC.

DROP OFF LOCATION - THE FOUR OAKS FIRE DEPARTMENT at 100 Keen Street all week long.

Items that will be accepted are: Bottled Water, Non-perishable food items, paper products, plastic utensils, sanitary wipes, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, diapers, baby wipes, sports drinks, hydration powder packs, bug spray, manual can openers, trash bags, socks (unopened), heavy duty work gloves, and pet food.

Let's show them the love and support our little town has and come together to help as much as we possibly can. Thank you all!!

Edit: Mr. T has been located! Thank you Gela Maria Stroud Weaver for pointing us in the right direction.

Help! A valued member of our department has gone missing and we are in a whirl without him.

Mr. Tumbler was last seen in October 2023 after putting in a grueling rotation at our annual fundraiser. Mr. T often takes a spin helping out at other departments and community events, so we believe he has just gotten turned around and can’t find his way home.

We would be dizzy with relief if you could help return him to us. So keep your eyes open wide, head on a swivel and pivot him in our direction if you can.

We swear we won’t be in a twist if he just overstayed his visit with you!

(Seriously, if you’ve got it, we ain’t mad. We just need to borrow it back for our fundraiser.)

Congratulations to our most recent high school graduates: Connor Flannery, Turner Thompson, Caleb Dodson, and Tucker Austin!! These four have learned a lot and taught us a lot, all while juggling their studies and their fire department commitments.
