Teaching the finish heel can be a difficult task at times. We find that using a wall or fence line makes it a bit easier for the dog and handler. We also use a marker system to capture the exact “picture” we want the dog to “paint”. The marker is a verbal “Yes” for this dog. A clicker can also be used. Marker training creates clarity of task. Once the dog comes into the proper position and sits the mark is given and the dogs is paid 💰💰.

Zeke is currently in our Board and Train program. We are working on getting both his mind and body in shape. The treadmill has been a great tool for accomplishing both goals.
Fitness in dogs is often overlooked. Many American 🇺🇸 house pets are often over indulged with a free feeding diet, extra scraps and little to no exercise. If a dogs body is not in shape neither is his mind. Don’t forget to get those 4 legs moving by giving much needed exercise. In addition to the treadmill, Zeke is also getting multiple training sessions and outside walks.

Worked a bunch of dogs on the treadmill today. None of them have been on the treadmill prior to today. We start the process by having the dog step on the treadmill then give a kibble. Once comfortable we add some speed based on the dogs gait. We then add a bit of duration. #nck9 #dogs #obedience #treadmill #k9fitness

We get a lot of timid dogs that come into our program. Teaching a timid dog to be comfortable enough to lay down can be challenging. @m3_brewer is working “Diva” in this video and using the “London Bridge” method to accomplish her goal. “Diva” is figuring out the game and Megan is so proud of her!
