Sunshine and her toe flicks starting off the morning spicy 🌶️.
Always a fun day when it’s spent with Ashleigh Roberds and her gals!
I just love ending every Friday between Ms. Skyes ears. 🖤
Often I get asked why my horses are so quiet.. and it’s simply because we don’t tiptoe around them.
They’re exposed to machinery, vehicles, a mud truck and anything else you can think of on a almost daily biases.
Tiptoeing around your animals solves nothing and almost always causes more issues than not.
Loving these fall colors. 🍂
Did y’all see that branch attack Henry?! 🫣
Jayleen and Whiskey had their first MBRA barrel race yesterday and did so well! Outside of me messing up their timer🤣.
They walked around the barrel race a lot and learned how to have proper Warm-Up critique and to be wary and watchful of others.
Remember, taking a step back towards the basics is okay!
Often I get lots of horses in for training for “spookiness undersaddle” and in reality, a lot of it can be addressed and taken care of on the ground. Acknowledging when to take a step back and focus on groundwork and desensitization is essential to know and extremely important. Not everything needs or can be fixed undersaddle.
Two weeks ago Birdie here would have (HAS!!) dragged me across the arena for a simple flick of my whip, now that she’s figured out nothing is here to hurt her, she stands like a rock.
It’s such a rewarding feeling when you can finally take your once “hot”/”blown” up horse for a calm ride down the road.
I’ve been working with Bacardi on going down the road with all four feet on the ground for awhile now. In the beginning it was rearing, prancing, constant trotting and ongoing head throwing. It was miserable.
Now, coming up on a year of us working together, we can calmly go down the road and enjoy our time together. 🖤
Never give up on the ones who need the most work and effort put into them, because once your time comes, it’s so rewarding.
A pretty set of ears to start off the morning.
Bacardis 2D 2nd place run.
