✨️Tini was the star of our Mini Storytime session ✨️
She was a great reading helper while reading one of our favorites, "This Way Charlie", a great actor playing the roll of the blind horse from the book named Charlie while the kids played the roll of Jack leading her through obstacles using their voices, and enjoyed watching the kids participate in our center activities like mixing friendship colors and washing ponies on this hot day!!
Can't wait for next Friday's adventure! Who wants to come out and see all of the fun we're going to have with Tini and Danny?
Old goofy Groot is so excited for his friends to continue learning through the summer!!!
Even though school is out soon for the summer, it's such a great idea to keep the learning going so your child doesn't fall behind. On average, students lose between 25-30% of their reading skills over the summer! The kids work so hard to gain that knowledge during the school year. Why not keep it going to make them even more confident going into the new school year?!?!?
We have a few, low cost, programs that could help motivate your child to keep the learning going. Which one would you like to learn more about?

It's a cool fact, right? Well, here it's a little more than that!
Horses naturally understand feelings and are very intuitive about them because this helps their survival. They rely on each other to communicate danger and then they decide what to do. Studies have shown that in many ways, horses and humans are very connected. There are many theories as to why, but we're looking at the how here.
We use this great gift a lot on the farm to help children find success and calm in the activities they're practicing. Having an animal that can help regulate stress in our bodies is essential when working through some tough situations we face. When our heart rates are slow we are naturally calmer and we can be more mindful. Horses are great at bringing people into the present moment, which helps stop them from overthinking and just be in the present moment while being supported.

Ginger made a great story board last night!
The children picked from several different words on a Sentence Trail to form a Story Starting sentence using a pitch fork and rings. Our hope was to inspire the girls' creative writing during our Teach A Horse To Read program last night! Ginger was kind enough to allow the kids to piece their sentences together so they could see it spread out!
We have inspired two future authors tonight 😉
Taking the lead on your life can be the most challenging, yet, rewarding thing for anyone to do, right? That's the goal of our Life Leaders Program here at Healing Hearts With Horses LLC . This program is the foundation of what we do!
Life can be super challenging and intimidating! It can derail us from the path we were on, take tight turns that are scary, or even stop us from doing what we love because somewhere down the line we were told we couldn't. It can discourage the best of us, including children, and has created a rise in childhood anxiety!
According to the APA (American Pediatric Association) during the year 2020 the number of youth worldwide that struggled with symptoms of anxiety was 20.5%, which has doubled since 2011. With numbers continuing to rise those are some scary statistics! While we can only debate on why, and there are probably more factors than we know of, we have to focus on the change and how to keep these numbers from going up! So where do the horses come in?
Recent research shows that people experience many other physiological benefits while interacting with horses including lower blood pressure, increased levels of beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters that serve as pain suppressors) decreased stress levels, reduced feeling of anger, hostility, tension, anxiety, etc.
The horses can encourage emotional bonding and can help children develop trust, empathy, and confidence. Horses are also great for children who struggle with social interactions because of the non-judgmental nature of horses which creates a safe space for emotional growth. The children feel safe and gain the confidence when they've cemented that bond and learn along side their horse. They use the skills the horses teach them and can apply those skills in their everyday life.

Oh, Wyatt loves to listen when the kids come to read to him during our Teach A Horse To Read sessions!
Do you have a school ager who would like to come read to him and our other horse friends? Comment "Wyatt" below to learn more!
Wyatt LOVES reading with friends!
Come join him and our other reading buddy horses at Healing Hearts With Horses LLC during our Teach A Horse To Read program from 4:30-5:30 pm!
We have some fun planned for everyone 🍀🌈
Wyatt is slowly gaining trust with us. He's been here for a week, and today was a huge milestone for us! This video clip is short, but he let me pet him like this today for about 4 minutes! I know that doesn't sound like much but going from having to bribe him to get his nose to poke out of the window of his stall with treats on day one to now keeping it out there and physically touching him at all, let alone 4 minutes his huge!! I can literally see his eyes close in comfort and his energy shift from scared and tight to loose and content in my hands. I'm so incredibly proud of him!!
Happy New Year to all of you 🎉✨️❤️ and Happy Birthday to all of our horse friends! Hope everyone enjoys their special days!!
Horses are such sensitive creatures! They showntheir feelings through the smallest twitch of their body! From the smallest lip quiver to the most powerful kick, they can tell us if they are happy, sad, surprised, upset, exited, or in pain. The more you are around them the more you can pick up on these non-verbal cues and the more they will get yo know you. This builds a bridge of communication between the horse and their person. When communication between the two parties is established, the relationship grows and the connection becomes stronger. This will insure the horse and their person never feels unheard and the confidence grows stronger in each other and in their own individual selves when they take on the world around them.

Like I tell the kids I work with, horses are magical! They can suck all of your stress out and make it go away!
Horses and humans have a natural connection! Both of us are very social creatures and need interaction for survival. Most of human communication (about 70%) is non-verbal, much like horses, but their percentage is much higher! The beauty of this is that humans and horses can read each other's emotions and act accordingly.
The biggest difference...horses live in the moment. They are mindful creatures by nature, so they are more than likely live in the moment without judgment. Hence, why I say, "...they can suck all of your stress out and make it go away!" Being in the moment helps us appreciate all that is around us in a more positive way. Taking cues from their way of thinking can help us interpret life in a more calm state, which helps our stress levels and improves our focus on the NOW!
All of the horses that live at Healing Hearts With Horses LLC provide unique qualities that can help so many young children love themselves through the love of horses! If you'd like to learn more, I'd love to help!
