February 26, 1918: On this date in 1918, Songwriter Irving Berlin became an American citizen. Shortly after becoming a citizen, Berlin, already a highly successful popular lyricist and composer, was inducted and stationed at Camp Upton in Yaphank, Long Island, New York. It was later that year during World War I that Berlin wrote his tribute to his adopted country, "God Bless America." Feeling the song was too solemn for his show "Yip Yip Yaphank," the song was put "in the trunk" and revised by him in the run up to World War II in 1938 for Kate Smith. God Bless Irving Berlin.

He’s just a puppy 💔

My life ends on 4/26. I just turned one year old during my 7 months at this shelter. No one wanted me as a puppy 😢 Why would they want me now? My human didn’t even want me. I had a microchip to an owner but they said “keep him”. I guess they want a new puppy. The shelter people can’t handle my puppy behavior. They said I’m “mouthy” and reactive with the leash. All I need is someone to teach me right from wrong like the nice people did in my videos. I had so much fun playing with my fur friends but sadly that has come to an end. I didn’t even get to say goodbye to them. Now the last 6 days of my life will be spent in a cage wondering what I did wrong, wondering why I was born, wondering why I have to die and when I do, will it be humanely….

Possible right eye has infection and also has cherry eye (Would need surgery to repair) she is getting an eye ointment for infection

Volunteer Notes: I looked for her on 4/15 but couldn’t find her. She’s sick but at least she’s in the medical treatment ward! (Which means she isn’t in overflow sick)

I tried twice a few days prior to get her to come out. We got out and to the door but she wouldn’t go so I let her go back to her kennel. Tried again but no go. Then she got sick.

I'll see you over the rainbow bridge. You were the best friend I ever had! I'll miss you till the end. Rest easy, you earned your halo.

The veterinarian said you had tumors pressing on your lungs and intestines and you probably wouldn't have lived much longer.

I'm sorry I waited so long, but I didn't want to say goodbye yet.

I'm so happy that we had a good day at the lake on Monday. I should have taken some pictures of you happy.

Thanks for being there for me.

You left paw prints on my heart.

I'll be bringing you home 1 last time soon.

These 9 little opossum are safe due to the protection of their moms pouch. RIP Momma 💔

It's sad because it seems mom being hit by a car could have been avoided, considering the speed limit was 30mph, Opossum move very slowly & should have been seen.
