A Sunday well spent for our Shady Grove riders at the USHJA Zone 1 Clinic with Peter Wylde hosted at Orion Farm. Even those who weren’t riding came to support their fellow barn mates and learn by watching.

Abby Violin & Bodhi did the 3’ Equitation group, and Kate LaVerde & Stewart were in the 3’3” Equitation section. Both Abby and Kate rode beautifully and the boys were total pros. It was a honor to have Peter coach them for a day.

Thank you to the committee who organized this great event, and Orion Farm for hosting us at your beautiful facility! Excited to come back next year with more riders 😊

We had a spook-tacular Halloween party & costume contest tonight 🎃 👻 The creativity and craftsmanship of these costumes never fail to amaze us each year! The kiddos even enjoyed a fun relay race after some delicious pizza & snacks. Thank you all for participating!

That’s a wrap on NEEC 2024! Kate & Stewart put in a solid effort over their medal course with only one, small moment keeping their score down. Special thanks to Jordan Lovitz & Charlotte Lyon for coming to groom! We love having our college (and post college) family to help 😊

MHC Finals 2024 is a wrap! ✅

Congratulations, Paige Violin, for placing Top Twenty out of 57 riders in today’s Mini Medal Final on a horse (yes, a full size…very large…HORSE) that she had only ridden 3 times! When her usual pony partner in crime couldn’t attend the Finals this year, the Cotman family kindly offered Paige the ride on their big, bay dog, Nemolino. If you know, you know how hard the transition from a pony to a horse can be! We are so proud of this young rider’s poise and professionalism in the stirrups and are so thankful for horses like Nemo and friends like the Cotmans!!

A big THANK YOU to our team both at the show and back at home for keeping things running so smoothly. Siobhan Moloney, for her incredible grooming skills and Jordan Lovitz, for taking over things at home so that our beloved, Andre, could go on a well deserved vacation!! This would not be possible without you all 💙

Congratulations, Cora Cotman Jenkins, on placing 9th in the MHC Junior Medal Final!!! Cora went into the second round in 5th place (thanks to a stunning first round) and ended up 9th after the second round. We are so proud of you, Cora & Nemo! 💙👏🏻

We finish up with MHC Finals weekend tomorrow with Paige Violin in the Mini Medal. Good luck, Paige! 🍀

MHJ Finals is a wrap 🎬

We are soooooo proud of Kate LaVerde for WINNING the Adult 30+ Medal today on her orange unicorn, Hytime!!! The pair were 3rd in their Open round and came back to score an 86 in the medal!!! They clinched the title with a beautiful flat phase and lots of treats for Stewart!!! 💙💛❤️

Paige Violin & Pixie Dust also took home 8th place in the Children’s Pony Medal Final after a long week of showing (and a longer day of waiting!). We are always so impressed by Paige’s poise and sportsmanship for such a young rider. Well done, Paige!!

Congratulations to the rest of our MHJ riders for putting in respectable rounds and thanking your horses at the end of the day!

As always, an endless Thank You to everyone who makes this possible….from the people at home to the people at the shows 💙 MHC Finals, here we come!

Quick video of the Greenaway’s horse, Ferris, having a little jump school today with Rachel. We are so proud of the progress this guy has made over the winter! Coming from a mainly dressage background, Ferris was a little green to jumping and sometimes anxious. Natalie and Sarah have been putting in the work to get him confident to the jumps and light & steady afterwards. Life with horses is a marathon, not a sprint, and it is so rewarding to start to see the results of their efforts❣️ #shadygroveshowstables #hunterjumper #hardworkpaysoffs

Today was a very special day at Shady Grove ❤️ Today, we welcomed home Lisa Carroll’s beloved Balboa to the farm. Two years ago, we sent Bo live his retired life out at Fountain Greene Farm in VA, (where he received the most amazing care!). However, someone once told Lisa that Bo knew that he would one day be back with her again, and his time in Virginia was just a “vacation”. None of us thought that day would actually come, but here he is!!! Welcome home forever, Bo Bo 💗🦄 Thank you to everyone at Fountain Green Farm and JR Hudson for helping us coordinate his safe and timely travels!
