We offer twice daily off-leash playgroups for dogs living in the greater Wellesley area. We also offer in home boarding for our regular clients.

Dogs are picked up at their home and brought to local area parks for off leash fun time with their friends. We take dogs of all ages, sizes and personalities. As well as having fun, we will also work with you to reinforce any training you are working on with your dog. We believe that socialization and exercise are the keys to a happy dog!!

We suffered a sudden and traumatic loss earlier this week. Ruby left us early Wednesday morning in my arms while her dad drove like the rally car driver he is to get her to the ER vet after she had a seizure and began having trouble breathing. She was already gone by the time we arrived but we are forever grateful to the lovely people at for the care and kindness that they showed to us in our darkest hour.

Our best guess at this point is that she had an undiagnosed tumor on her brain or spine. And given that she was 12, the only thing a diagnosis would have done was prepare us for the end. We are just thankful that it happened when both of us were with her.

Ruby came to us originally as a client. On her first day with BTH, I walked into a glass door because I was too busy looking at how cute she was to notice where I was going. When a little over a month later her family asked if I knew of a good home for her, I didn’t hesitate. (Well technically I did wait to ask Alex because you should never bring home a dog without conferring with your spouse 😂) Next month would have been 11 years with her.

Ruby quickly settled into our home pack and over the years she became Alex’s best bud. She loved being cozy and we used to joke that she was a parasite because she had to always be sleeping on someone. After the loss of her big brother Gus in 2020, she resigned herself to no longer having a sibling pillow (The dingo does NOT snuggle). And thus Shangrila (a multi layered system of dog beds) was formed. If a dog bed wasn’t available, Ruby used many of your dogs as pillows - she wasn’t choosy about who she snuggled with (but we all knew Alex was far and above her favorite lap).

It is never easy losing a dog. But we were blindsided this time and it still feels slightly unreal. I was sure we had at least another year or two with her. I’ll be forever grateful for the time we had.

Ruby B***y, you were the most majestic sea potato that ever graced this world with her presence and absolutely the most loved. We’ll miss you forever Booberoni. Thanks for the Ruby red sky show last night. ❤️🐾🌈

The BTH pups (and their humans) represented at the Miles for Mutts 5k this morning! Teddy (and Alex) came in first and Ginger (and Fei) came in second!! Way to go guys! 🐕🏃‍♀️

I’d say we need an official BTH team next year but I don’t think we could perform better than these two! ❤️🐾

Reminder there are no hikes today, Monday Sept 2 for Labor Day. Take some time to relax with your pups and enjoy the sun!

We were so saddened to hear about the passing of our friend Nala last week. 💔

Nala developed osteosarcoma last fall and despite her family’s best efforts to help her beat it, she passed just shy of her 5th birthday. We never feel like we have enough time with our furry friends but in this case, it was definitely too short.

Nala was an exuberant puppy and remained unaware of her size throughout her life. She was eager to launch herself into the car much to the dismay of some of her ride mates. She lumbered through the park throughly enjoying each and every sniff.

Like most of her breed, winter was her favorite and she could lie outside for hours. She loved being outdoors in almost all weather. Whenever she stay with us, I often had to cajole her back inside with promises of treats.

We have missed having her in our pack these last several months. She was a goofy, happy girl who’s presence has yet to be matched. There’s a giant Nala hole in our hearts today.

RIP Nala. I hear the clouds at the rainbow bridge are almost as good as the bushes in your front yard for a nap. 🌈❤️

Hot Dog! Seems like Mother Nature is kicking summer off with a bang! ☀️🥵

We are shortening and canceling playgroups in line with the worst of the heat wave. But while we’re out, we’ll make sure the pups get plenty of water time! Keep those paws and bellies cool!! 🐾💦

Our newest foster pup, Willie, is all geared up for the marathon tomorrow! He can’t wait to cheer for his favorite runners!

Reminder that we are closed tomorrow, Monday April 15th. Hikes will resume Tuesday April 16th.

That winter wonderland was fun while it lasted! According to Phil, we’re getting an early spring which tracks seeing that we never really got winter this year. We’ll all be happy if Mother Nature just picks a season and sticks with it! If mud season is coming, we’d like to get it over and done with!

We were so saddened to hear about the passing of our old pal Leo last week.

Leo was a team favorite and well known star at Callahan even before he started coming on our hikes. He and his Australian shepherd brother, Teddy, joined us several years ago as a perfect odd couple. Even though Leo’s health kept him from joining the hikes in more recent years, we all still enjoyed checking in with him when picking up Teddy.

Leo and his little legs hold a special place in our hearts and we are thinking of his family as they move forward without their special boy. Run wild little man. Say a hello to all our friends up there. ❤️🐾

What a week! We started off with some beautiful snowy trails and ended up in the muck! To give you an idea of how messy the park was, in the first picture Chauncey is standing in the middle of the trail! Yikes!! ❄️🌧️

But some of our pups were prepared! Louie and Rooney model the best in mud protection in the second photo. Several of our clients have these suits and they do a great job at keeping the dogs clean and dry while still letting them run around! 🐾

It looks as though the temps will drop next week so here’s hoping we’ve seen the last of mud season until Spring! (Todays torrential rain notwithstanding 😂)
