THE RESCUE REVOLUTION: MIRACLES IN MOTION

Today we shine a light on a tiny dog with a warrior’s heart — Sully.
A dog whose suffering should never have happened… and whose healing was made possible because this community refuses to look the other way.

When Sully was seized from a neglectful home, his condition was devastating.

He was covered from head to paw in fleas and scabs, each bite tormenting his frail body.
His fur was so severely matted that it formed a shell — a prison — trapping his little frame.
But the worst part?
A mat of hair had wrapped tightly around his back leg for so long that it caused:

⚠️ Infection
⚠️ Necrosis
⚠️ Loss of circulation
⚠️ Muscle atrophy

He couldn’t even walk.
His leg was dying.

This isn’t just neglect — it is cruelty.
And Sully deserved far better.

The moment he came into RDO’s care we rushed him go Dr. Kokinos’ clinic, where the X-rays, sedation, and testing began. Everyone held their breath, knowing his leg might need to be amputated.

On top of it all, he was battling severe anemia from the flea infestation.

But then — the miracle began.

With round-the-clock foster care, intensive treatment, and the expertise of our veterinary partners…

✨ Sully’s infection began to heal
✨ Bloodwork improved
✨ Circulation returned
✨ His strength slowly came back
✨ And YES — he got to keep his leg

Today, Sully is ZOOMING around like nothing ever happened.
Bouncy, joyful, full of life — completely transformed.

This is what compassion does.

At just 10 months old, Fetch has already experienced more uncertainty than any dog should. He was found as a stray… unclaimed… and then returned from a trial adoption that simply wasn’t the right fit.

Today’s spotlight is one of the most heartbreaking — and most inspiring — transformations we have ever witnessed. Today, we honor Honey.

Honey was found in the City of Utica, wandering as a stray and barely clinging to life. She was nothing but skin and bones — so emaciated, so weak, and so brutally neglected that it was a miracle she was still standing at all.

Her body told the story of long-term abuse. Her eyes told the story of a dog who had been failed over and over again. And tragically, despite investigation, no one was ever held responsible for what happened to her.

But this is where your story — our story — begins. The moment Honey entered the Rover’s Do Over family, everything changed. She was taken in by our very own founder & board president, who provided round-the-clock care — truly 24/7 TLC — for over a month and a half. Warmth. Food. Safety. Medication. Soft blankets. Gentle hands. Love she had never known before.

Slowly… Honey began to come back to life. Her body strengthened. Her spirit returned. Her eyes softened. And one day, she wasn’t just surviving — she was thriving.

Honey became unrecognizable — glowing, healthy, joyful, and finally free from the pain she had endured for so long. And then the ultimate miracle happened:

Meet Rocky, the 10-year-old Chihuahua mix whose soulful eyes and gentle spirit could melt even the frostiest winter day. ❄️💙

Don’t let that serious little face fool you — Rocky is a warm, snuggly, happy boy who LOVES his people and wants nothing more than to be close to them. This sweet gentleman has been thriving in his foster home, soaking up all the cozy blankets, love, and belly rubs he can get.

He lives with several other dogs and fits right in — calm, easygoing, and quietly confident. He hasn’t met cats yet, but we think he’d do just fine. And yes… Rocky is carrying a little holiday “extra padding,” but that just means there’s more of him to cuddle by the fire. 😉🔥🐾

We are so excited to share an update on Dahlia and her five beautiful babies — and it’s all wonderful news! 💕

These little ones are thriving, growing like weeds, and already showing off their adorable personalities. Their eyes are bright, their bellies are full, and their little voices (and attitudes!) are starting to come out.

And after reading through all of your amazing name suggestions, we have chosen their official names!

These absolute cuties will be ready for their forever homes just before the New Year, so we are now accepting applications to begin lining up adopters for the coming weeks.

Today we honor Graci. Graci was sitting in a shelter when she was dealt a devastating blow: She tested positive for heartworm — a dangerous, painful, and expensive condition that shelters often don’t have the resources to treat.

And on top of that…Graci was a mom. She had three tiny puppies relying on her for survival. With no option for treatment at the shelter, Graci and her babies were out of time and out of options.

That’s when this movement stepped in. RDO welcomed Graci and her little family with open arms.

Thanks to this community:
✨ Graci began her life-saving heartworm treatment
✨ Her puppies received care, nourishment, and safety
✨ And for the first time in a long time, Graci could breathe without fear

Heartworm treatment is long, painful, and costly.
It takes months of injections, steroids, crate rest, monitoring, and compassion.

But Graci didn’t go through it alone. She had a foster mom who adored her. A medical team fighting for her. And a community supporting every step of her recovery. And somewhere along that three-month journey… something beautiful happened: Her foster mom fell hopelessly in love. And Graci was adopted — right into the arms of the person who helped her heal.

From a shelter with no resources… to a medical journey that saved her life…
to being cherished in a forever home…

THE RESCUE REVOLUTION: MIRACLES IN MOTION

Today’s spotlight tells the story of a mama who fought to protect her babies under unthinkable conditions — Midnight.

Earlier this year, Midnight and her companion, Dallas, were discovered living in a chicken coop. Cold, unprotected and in the middle of a snow storm in January.

To make matters worse Midnight was in labor with no warmth, no safety, no help… and no idea that her entire life was about to change.

As a foster-based rescue, we could only step in if we had somewhere for them to go. And that’s when the heart of this community took over.

We called our friends at the Rome Humane Society for help. They rushed to bring Midnight and Dallas to safety so she could continue delivering her puppies in warmth and comfort. Because of them, Midnight was finally able to finish giving birth in a place where she felt safe.

& then came miracle #2.

Through our partnership with Dr. Kokinos of Kokinos Veterinary Services — who has been a tremendous ally to RDO — the next morning, Midnight and her 10 puppies were moved into a loving foster home… Dr. Kokinos’ own home.
He personally fostered the entire little family for the next two months!

From there, the miracles continued:

✨ Dallas was adopted quickly through Rome Humane Society.
✨ All night puppies found incredible forever families.
✨ Midnight was adopted together with one of her puppies — a beautiful ending for a mama who deserved the world.

When we say it takes a community, this is exactly what we mean.

Midnight’s rescue was not the work of one group —
it was the work of an entire movement coming together with one mission:
to save lives.

Its not a competition.
This is collaboration.
This is the Rescue Revolution.
And Midnight is living proof of what happens when a community refuses to stand by.

Today, we honor Rogue — a gentle soul who spent far too long suffering in silence before this movement stepped in.

When Rogue arrived back in January, she was underweight, uncomfortable, and battling a chronic eye condition that had gone untreated for months. The inflammation was so severe, and the pain so intense, that a full examination of her eye wasn’t even possible.

But then her life took a turn.

Thanks to our incredible partners at German Flatts Veterinary, Rogue received immediate medical care the moment she entered our program. Her eye was carefully flushed, treated, and stabilized. Antibiotics were started. Pain and inflammation were addressed. And for the first time in months — Rogue felt relief.

Then she was welcomed into a loving foster home, where she began to heal in ways that only happen when compassion surrounds a dog who has suffered.

✨ The scar tissue in her eye will always be part of her story.
✨ The months of neglect left a mark that can’t be erased.
But her future? Her future looks nothing like her past.

Because in this community — the community that saves — dogs like Rogue don’t stay forgotten. They don’t stay in pain. They don’t stay alone. They get a do-over.

🐾✨ Meet Penny — The 12-Year-Young Queen of Second Chances! ✨🐾

If you’re looking for a senior sweetheart who will brighten your home with love, joy, and adorable little wiggles… look no further. Penny is your girl. 💛

At 12 years young, Penny has the spirit of a pup half her age. She’s about 17 pounds of pure charm — with her short legs, long body, and big personality giving us major Chihuahua–Corgi mix vibes. And she is as friendly and outgoing as they come!

Penny came to Rover’s Do Over under heartbreaking circumstances. When her owner passed away, Penny and her elderly canine sister were left alone in the home. Their owner’s family stepped in and cared for them for over a month, desperately trying to find them a safe place… but had no luck. 💔

With no other options, they scheduled an appointment to have them euthanized.

But then — a miracle. ✨

Just two days before their appointment, one of our amazing foster homes stepped forward. Because of that single act of kindness, both dogs were saved, and Penny got her second chance at the life she deserves.

Penny’s canine “sister” is now on hospice care and being loved for whatever time she has left.
But Penny?
This girl is READY to find her forever family and make the most of her golden years. 🌟
