Those Little Wrapped Stirrups will be someone’s trainer someday, so teach them the parallel of horsemanship and life. Teach them how to forgive, when forgiveness is warranted. But, teach them that it is okay to have a backbone too.
Teach them to navigate a busy arena with boldness, just as they will have to navigate through the chaos of life. Those Little Wrapped Stirrups may just be learning the up-and-downs in the saddle, but one day they will be facing those in life too.
Teach them to smile amidst adversity- unaffected and unafraid, but don’t hide reality from them. Teach them that their joy comes from a higher power, not from worldly things or even people or themselves.
Teach those Little Wrapped Stirrups that the still, small voice that placed that dream inside their heart is NOT wrong, despite what the world may tell them. Teach them the balance of grace and grit - gratitude and glory; and, most importantly, teach them to remember WHO that glory is given back to.
Narrowgate General Mills a.k.a. “Muffin” took reserve champion in the in-hand Dartmoor division last week in a great group of stallions and mares. Proud of this little guy!
Since we no longer have a website solely based for lessons, we are posting our policies here for convenience.
Attendance: To keep our lessons flowing smoothly we require a 24 hour cancellation or rescheduling policy. If you cancel without proper 24 hour notice your lesson is forfeited without refund (emergency situations are exceptions to this policy). If you cancel prior to 24 hours your lesson may be credited to use within that calendar month.
Lesson packages will only run for the calendar month that they are purchased in.
If you have a planned vacation, we will work with you to do make ups during the weeks that you are not out of town.
Any lesson canceled by the trainer or due to weather will be credited to current lesson package or next.
Our lessons are booked on a first-come, first- serve basis.
Bullying: NO bullying is tolerated here.
Barn Rules: Keeping the tack area clean and tidy is a priority. Even though our barn is still not finished, each item has its own designated space and we trust that no items will be strewn about or out of place. If tack is dropped on the ground, scratched, scuffed, or damaged please own up to it- we will not be mad, we just want to be aware. Many of the trainer’s personal items are entrusted to the lesson kids, so we appreciate your consideration towards that.
Horse rules: please respect the horse/pony. Check to make sure that the water/bucket or trough is filled (if it is low, notify someone at the barn- don’t just walk on by). Keep gates latched before and after use. Make sure main gate is closed.
At the end of the day, we treat our students like family and we expect the same in return. ❤️

so one person sharpens another” - Psalms 27:17
Rainy Lessons with Savanna and Robbie
BettyMo one of our mares had a great check up this morning at the Vet’s office. Hoping for a March 2025 foal! Stats First Goodbar .
Tulipkings Talisman will be coming available for new 🏡 in July!
Should mature to 12 hands. Yearling. Low four figures.
Blessings come in many forms! God is omnipotent. He sees all. He hears all. He is the beginning and the end. He is in the conversations you don’t hear, and he is in the actions you don’t see. I know God is fighting my battles, and I know He is preparing my table.
P.S. my new girl is such a sweetie. I am in love. Here is to new adventures and chasing what God has put in front of me. Also- Thank you Taylor Ann for finding my perfect girl for me!
Cute pony, Thor, is here for some additional training fortifying his groundwork and kid safeness. I think he is going to be such a sweet pony. First ride here on this horribly windy day and all I can say is I’m impressed with this little fellow.
This guy has clearly had some trauma in his past and is head shy and gives the lunge whip the sneaky side eye no matter where it is at. This will be the main focus for this dude while he is here- to show him that people are not bad and he can again trust the masses.
Maybe he will prompt a live session covering how to work a horse that has this kind of particular trauma- stay tuned 🤔
Excited to welcome Miss Lady into our program.
Found small keys (maybe to a journal or trunk of some kind) on gray key chain- if they are yours please PM me.
Tilly and Rosemary in their morning work sessions. Excited to be bringing this little ladies along!

Gabby or ”Gabriela” which I am calling her is a 3yo dartmoor that has landed here at In The Irons Equestrian Academy.
Gabriela means “God is my strength”. I’m excited to watch this little lady transform. 🌟
A little brag moment ⭐️ I have seen so much growth from my team this year not just in the arena but outside of it as well. I am so proud of all of my riders. They have put in the work, and it HAS paid off.
Each one of them placed in the top five in EVERY SINGLE THING they entered this year for year end points/ awards!
Good job team!
I am so grateful for my group of kids that aspire to be good riders but not only that, they aspire to be GOOD HORSEWOMEN and HORSEMEN. There is more to this industry than just riding. Our academy is dedicated to building up students that want to be well rounded and dedicated to horsemanship. We will not build them up any other way.
If you haven’t voted yet, give a vote to Courtney Beaver for favorite trainer. She only likes a handful of votes putting her in the pot for favorite trainer awards.

Ben did amazing in his classes placing 6th in two of his classes and 2nd in the other two!
Emily places very well in both her equitation classes and her canter crossrails classes. She also made some huge improvements that she has been working hard on.
Lucia placed well in her flat division and then took home grand champion in her Green Hunter division.
Kinzlee also placed well in all her classes and then topped the day off by swiping a grand champion in the Mini Hunter division. She also made huge improvements on her flat classes.
These kids have been working hard and it pays off! Grateful for them, their parents, and all their sponsors that help them achieve their goals!
I will be booking appointments on most Saturdays! PM me if you would like to book an appointment for your horse! Group discounts may apply if there are more than two horses at your barn having a session!
Just a PSA to anyone interested in leasing a horse within my program. Please know it is like all other services offered. First come, first serve. I have operated this way since day 1. 💕

Trainers, how often do you teach your horse to spook? Well here is the issue… if you don’t teach a horse how to act in a tricky situation they shut down. They are just like little kids. If you don’t teach them how to react in a positive way they will turn back to their instincts fight or flight: they will bolt, rear, spook, buck, lock down, etc. Desensitizing is the MOST IMPORTANT THING in training. Give your horses experiences so they have the chance to learn how to react. Teach them that’s it’s better to spook in place if they absolutely must. Teach them to trust in humanity. I have said this for years: being a trainer is teaching a horse to be a good citizens, and good citizens have forever homes. You’re not just training the horse, you are molding the rest of its lifetime each time you work with it.
“All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.” Ecclesiastes 1:7 NIV I think it is amazing to think that this little creek that winds through our property contributes to a wave in the ocean. Ecclesiastes chapter one talks about meaninglessness of ones labor on this earth. How our toil adds to nothing, how generations come and go, how the sun rises and sets in a continuum. The earth shall withstand our passing, but our life can be like this stream. God’s will can be thought of as the ocean. Even though we may not know it or see it, our lives follow the path he has made and lead us to the ocean. Find meaning in everyday. Find gratitude, peace, and love. Sometimes we will go through drought, and other times we will go through a flood. And like the banks of a stream may change- giving back to the land or eroding it away- so will our lives as we grow. May our paths be ever changing by the grace and mercy God gives to us by calling us to the ocean. May we learn to keep surging peacefully on this earth until His will is done.
“Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:26 ESV I think as spring rolls around the corner and our lives start to get busier again, it is important to remember we are under God’s protection and in his care. Don’t worry about things you cannot control, as He is in control. Sit back and listen to the little birds that are singing. Let them tell you about His creation. Take a breath of fresh air and let the anxieties of this life go. Take a moment to remember that if God provides for the birds, He will provide for you. Just have faith and trust in Him. Let Him lead you through life.
