I’m so excited to finally share this (I had to wait until mostly everyone got them bc I certainly didn’t want to ruin the surprise!!) but for Christmas gifts to my Green Barn family this year I wanted to do something extra special — so I found an incredible artist and commissioned her to paint pictures of everyone’s horses as Christmas ornaments!!! I was completely blown away then, and continue to be, at her incredible talent!! I mean, look at this!! Thank you Deena!! 🐴🎄

I *might* be able to appreciate the beauty at sunset when I’m finally done working in it for the day, am about to take 2 advil and sit in front of fire for a min!!! Side note: I slept from 830pm to 7am last night. And yes I was THAT tired ❄️ 💤

VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS POST. Our sweetest girl “Darla” is home, happy and healthy, after pretty major surgery to have her eye removed. Darla is totally blind in both eyes, but her right eye has been the cause of pain and discomfort for some time with constant ulcerations and degenerative corneal disease. Her owner Kristen was faced with the very difficult decision to actually have her eye removed after much research and agonizing worry!!! But alas, the surgery is behind her as is the first several days of recovery!! So glad to have our sweet girl home and see her personality back. Knowing that miserable eye that didn’t even work anyway is gone and will no longer cause her pain is the greatest Christmas gift!!!!! 🎄❤️💕🐴

It’s been nearly 2.5 years since I’ve ridden my sweet Ser. Truly she was aging, and a few years ago I had myself convinced she just needed to be retired… to live out her days wandering around the paddock just sleepily doing her thing. BUT - as we know from recents posts - with her diet change and supps, an incredible dentist, regular body work, a little chiro and acupuncture; she has gained 150 lbs and wants the world to know about it!!!

On our first little jaunt thru the woods, she bolted up a hillside, jumped a downed tree and ran me into a bush before coming out at the top of our hill and running face to face into the paddock with the cow, goats, sheep and dogs. Her silly “excitement” turned to true terror at that point and so I went ahead and dismounted and we walked home… but I call it a WIN! Nobody died — and she certainly got her point across, my girl is BACK! 🐴❤️

Do you have a horse that chokes regularly? I have been “blessed” to have had my fair share of chokers over the years… I’ve soaked the feed, mixed it with oil, mixed hay into it, put blocks, rocks, bricks etc in the pans… I have DIY’d everything I could think of. And finally - someone made a horse slow grain feeder. Why didn’t I invent this??? 🙄🐴😂
