How excited are we to welcome Emily Todd back to the Saddle Up! two-legged herd? VERY EXCITED! Emily begins her new role with SU! as full-time instructor today. You will remember Emily as an Intern in spring 2023, where she supported every lesson and barn activity possible while working to complete her PATH Int'l CTRI. Since that time, she has been in a versatile program management position at Victory Junction in NC. Her experience also includes serving as a riding instructor at Keyauwee Program Center and on the barn staff at Townley Equestrian Center. The Three Emily's Ride Again!

We are excited to welcome Cristalynne Dupree as the Grant Writer for Saddle Up!. With extensive experience in research, writing, and project coordination, Cristalynne brings a wealth of knowledge to her role, where she will help secure funding for programs that benefit the Saddle Up! community. A passionate equestrian mentor for ten years, Cristalynne has long dreamed of combining her love for horses and her professional expertise, making this opportunity a perfect fit.

Cristalynne currently serves as the Meals on Wheels Program Manager for the Bethlehem Centers of Nashville, where she oversees the delivery of services to older adults. She and Robin had a great reunion, as their paths in non-profit volunteer work have crossed many times!

A proud alumna of Tennessee State University, Cristalynne is deeply committed to community service and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and camping. She is also a nominee for the 2024 Women Who Rock Nashville Triumph Award.

We know that Cristalynne is going to make a great contribution to the growth, awareness, and support of Saddle Up! She is particularly excited about the opportunity to connect with everyone in the Saddle Up! community. Her approachable nature and enthusiasm for our cause will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to our team and its continued success!

October's Volunteer Spotlight shines on Sandra S - one of Saddle Up!'s most dedicated Sidewalkers. Sandra cheerfully jumps into LOTS of open shifts helping to ensure that all of our riders are able to participate in their scheduled lessons. Sandra is kind, caring, and patient and can be counted on to relate well to riders with many different personalities and challenges. Thank you, Sandra, for being a vital part of our riders' team!

Saddle Up! is always thrilled to welcome volunteers who have previously served at other PATH Accredited Centers. Clarke E came to Saddle Up! from Mane Gait in Texas and fittingly her first leading assignment at Saddle Up! was for Cowboy Daniel! Thank you Clarke for jumping in as a volunteer while living in Nashville.

As lessons resume today, we are thrilled to officially welcome Lesson Assistant Alexandra Koehn to Saddle Up!. She likely seems familiar to many of you -- Alexandra volunteered with Saddle Up! regularly from 2016-2018 when she was a reporter for NewsChannel 5. When Alexandra considered re-entering the workforce after having her daughter (who is a total cutie!), she was drawn back to Saddle Up! based on her very positive experience here as a volunteer. Alexandra’s great attitude, love for horses and children, and ability to think quickly on her feet will make her a fantastic part of our Lesson Assistant team. Be sure to welcome her when you see her around the arena on Monday, Thursdays and Saturdays!

Congratulations to volunteer Melissa W for reaching the 1500 Hours Served milestone! Everyone loves seeing Melissa’s bright smile around the barn – whether it is as a skilled Leader in Monday morning lessons, as a Pony Pal on Thursdays with Cocoa, or as one of our regular assistants in New Volunteer and Leader Trainings. Melissa’s energy and enthusiasm for all things horses and Saddle Up! is contagious and we can’t thank her enough for being a dedicated Saddle Up! volunteer.

Johnny’s background is a little sketchy. He was found hanging around a MAPCO. Or maybe a Circle K. Anyway, he was taken in to be neutered and his ear was clipped to be returned to the feral community. But he never made it back to the wilds. Shoshannah came into the picture. Obviously, he was somebody’s kitty at some point because he LOVES people and is a total feline sweetheart. We’re lucky he landed in our barn, whatever his journey to get here.
