Is helping to change the world your New Year's resolution? Listen to some incredible volunteers share why spending their time and devoting their energy to Saddle Up! shows them "the best people can be." We'd love to have you! Come visit us next Sunday, January 5 from 2 - 4 pm at the farm - 1549 Old Hillsboro Road near Franklin -- during our community open house and see if Saddle Up! is the place for you! No obligation. No RSVP required!
Our riders bring joy, positivity, and perseverance every time they come to the farm, "Where All Children Are Equal in the Saddle!" Continuing our series of exceptional stories in this season of miracles and new beginnings, we want everyone who hasn't had the joy of meeting Ephraim to get to know him! This is Ephraim's story.
Are you considering a new volunteer opportunity for 2025? Take a minute to watch Pippa's story. Not only will this fill more than 100% of your daily requirement of adorableness, but you will see our volunteers in action and learn about how you get more than you give when you help change a child's life. Come visit us on Sunday, January 5, from 2 - 4 pm when we host an open house (and bring a friend). Find out if volunteering at Saddle Up! is your volunteer calling in 2025.
What could be more perfect in this season just before the start of the new year than stories of hope and light and the exceptional strength and courage of our precious riders who exceed all expectations? The children and young adults with disabilities who ride at Saddle Up! and the instructors, therapists, and volunteers who work with them accept no limits and ride a miracle whenever they are in the saddle. Here is Fu's story.
In 2016 a very handsome quarter horse gelding arrived at Saddle Up!, voice trained for his previous owner who could not ride with traditional physical cues and ready to change the lives of dozens -- maybe hundreds -- of children and young adults. Was he a little bit high maintenance? Uh, yes. Was he a saint for the farrier? That would be a no. Could you throw a ball over his head? Please don't! Was he a patient and steady mount for his kids, standing patiently at the lift and never bothered by a wheelchair or cranky with an unbalanced rider? YES! Every day and every ride! We will miss Rocco in so many ways, but after 8 years, he has earned his retirement. Rocco will live an extraordinary life with lots of treats and scratches on the head. Retire well, good gelding! WE LOVE YOU!
"We saw a different Grace when she was on top of a horse...Saddle Up! literally changed Grace's life. Grace learned how to speak, how to communicate, how to socialize. It was a total transformation." In this season of giving and grace, we are honored to share Grace's story. Grace is a true champion and rides a miracle every time she is in the saddle.
