Training tip! Introduce and use an umbrella. ☔️
• Introduce while your dog is on leash.
• Open umbrella slowly.
• Great for potty training or making your adult dog go out in the rain to use the bathroom (on leash).
• Great for your walk!

It’s summer!!! A wonderful time to add a new dog to your household. If you have been thinking about adopting go check out all the adoptable dogs at our local shelter. They have a large variety as the shelter is currently full! We are happy to help with any training helping your new dog settle into your home.

Abe!

We have so many doodles in the program, but tonight let's talk about Abraham! This guy is mostly poodle.....which is awesome. Because he is bouncy like Tigger.....and sweet like Pooh. He is all legs and nonsense!!! Abe came to us after having to have multiple surgeries for ingesting socks. He has had no tendencies towards eating anything inappropriate since living with his foster (who is a trainer)....so we think that as long as he lives in a "tidy" home without children, it won't be an issue. He loves kids, a lot....but kids are gonna do what kids are gonna do which is leave stuff lying around....like their socks!!! We want to make sure we are setting him up for total success. He is such an amazing guy and now has a good bit of obedience under his belt that he likes to show off. He is fantastic with other dogs and all people and even does fine with cats!!! Little Miss Holly is graduating from our two week Puppy Head-Start Board and Train this Friday! We have an opening available starting Friday. Check out our Board and Train programs on our website. Your dog gets the benefits of our day train facility while also living in a regular home environment in the evenings and weekends. Perfect for transitioning those new behaviors back to your home.

Meet Sully! Our new Board and Train. Sully is a newly adopted adult Dogo Argentino mix. His dedicated owners want this handsome sweet “bull in a china shop” to be able to live the best life possible. We are excited he is with us and have already begun the training. Sully was found as an emaciated stay and heart worm positive. He is now physically healthy and has a wonderful temperament. Sully is with us to work on general house manners, socialization and off leash control.

Starbuck (lying down) got to hang out at day train this week with our friends Fresh Canine Training. They have day training for puppies and teenagers and adults.....and he got to hang out with the teenagers so he could get exposure to new environments, dogs and other handlers. He did fantastic of course....maybe tried to talk the handlers out of their snacks on break, but....you can only expect so much from a hound dog. Food ia food!!!! He is a really fantastic older puppy that loves loves loves other dogs and people.
Hounds and mixes and older puppies can often get overlooked in our area where there is no shortage or lack of diversity of dogs in need of homes. When you are searching, consider reaching out, describing your lifestyle and what you are looking for in a canine companion and allowing the rescue or shelter to suggest a few dogs to meet. You might not think they're
what you had in mind, but you never know until you meet them!!

The dogs in this photo range from 6 months to 3 years old. Each of these dogs started training with us while they were under the age of 5 months, most close to 10 weeks old.

We’re excited to have Fresh Canine Training join us at our upcoming Open House on Saturday, October 14th!

Fresh Canine uses a balanced approach to training your dog. During the learning phase, they use positive reinforcement, shaping, and luring - performing several hundred repetitions of each command and exercise. After each dog learns the commands, they transition to phasing out the rewards, making the response to obedience reliable. Once a dog has mastered the commands, they proof and generalize the behavior by working under distractions.
