Diky is warming up to Penny very nicely and he likes Dani to run with. Shirois old and could care less about a new dog. D**ky is actually going to be in familiar tarritory bec I have been taking him regularly to the cabin to run in the backyard and to explore the inside.inside the house.

Little update on our Sadie! She is just as happy as can be with her tiny humans, her favorite activity lately is convincing the toddler to put blankets down for her on the floor so she can lay on them and then waits to be covered up with another blanket. She is also obsessed with the baby and always tries to sneak some kisses in. Shelby

As she nears her first birthday she may be slightly taller than when she first came to Michigan. She has put on muscle but is staying slim by chasing through the woods after anything that moves… recently a turkey that startled all of us as it flew up out of the tall grass. She is such a good girl. Chick has never been fond of crating a dog, so she has the run of the house now and has been respectful of "the rules”. Even when we are not home, she stays off the beds and furniture. She has not chewed on anything that is not hers and has had no accidents since she got here. She guards the house and property and has a pretty menacing low growl, but she only barks in playtime excitement. She gets along great with other dogs and has a great time chasing the many chipmunks in the yard. I’m sending a pic of a sweet newborn fawn that I fortunately spotted before she did. I worried about Trixie finding one when loose in the woods, so we contained her a bit more for awhile. Now the fawns are all old/large enough to stick around with their moms, so Trixie has a little more freedom.

I still regret that we are not closer to Arkansas as I know she would love to see you again. Hope all is going well at Marleysworld and that the summer heat will not be too intense. This week we might get into the 80’s… thank goodness for the lake and the woods to keep us cool! Ruth Chickie and Trixie

Just checking in on you and the dogs. I just heard you had some terrible storms.. Thats so scary for you and the dogs! The weather is scary! Im glad you and the dogs are safe! Bodhi is my our best boys ever. He is my heart!

Bambi is enjoying being out with Marley in his play group now that D**ky is gone. Sue took him to Dr. Carr for a wellness check. D**k didn;t like riding in the car and had an accident in the waiting room. The visiting vet sent him home with medication so Sue asked if she could take him home with her until his new mom arrives in less that two weeks.

Dutchess went to get spayed at All Creatures Veterinary Hospital, the Midway location yesterday. The spay went well but she tested positive for Heartworm and Ehrlichia. She had no appetite or energy yesterday afternoon so Ill start giving her Doxycycline and give her fitst dose of Moxidectin this morning. I can't stress enough that Heartworm is easy to prevent. Get you dog tested and keep it on monthly preventative! Thanks to The Martha Decker Memorial Fund for Animals for helping pay for her spay.

Hello Kyle - Every day, the 24 hours fly by in an instant and I feel badly not giving you an update on sweet Trixie. She is doing GREAT and we adore her more and more as time gos by. She now leaps up the ramp and into the Jeep for her daily car ride… one of her favorite activities along with her daily walk/run in the woods. We have discovered the local brand new fawns waiting for their mamas behind our pole barn, in our back woods and down on the beach in the long grass. It’s a little tricky with our curious pup but we are taking care to protect her.

Trixie is such a delight. Still a little cautious of the unknown/new, but loved by all the neighbors and friends. She learned all the standard commands, come sit, lay down, and stay… so smart! Also gets our routines. Knows the words, too. PLAY is the favorite, especially when it involves her little squeaky ground hogs and chipmunks that hide in a furry log. Her nose is just long enough to locate the little fur ball animals. Always the first toy she chooses from her basket of toys. (She’s also fond of sticking her nose down chipmunk holes outside - so far, she hasn’t come out with anything from there!) Other phrases she clearly understands… Do you want to GO OUT? Do you want to go for a RIDE IN THE CAR? Do you want to EAT? We are working on the heel command while walking. She tends to want to walk fast and pull in the morning, so we use a harness to prevent pressure on her throat while on the roadside. She’s getting better. Pure joy is to see her romping through the woods off leash… so fast, so agile, so happy! Ruth, Chickie and Trixie

We have one giant Ash tree, over 100 fet tall. On a hot day it is much cooler there. Once upon a time before AC the folks who lived here sat on that old slab bench to keep cool. We like the ground better.

I am ever on guard against intruders. Most days it is lookie loos, UPS trucks and the occasional person on foot but yesterday I really had to step up my game. A huge horde of men swinging clubs and shouting ladies riding on giant dogs stole all the plants growing on OUR road. The good news is they got the message and took off.

Up till now, Mr Wilson has been getting his morning walk alone. Mostly I try to take two dogs out at a time. We walk a mile. Every day I take different dogs. Mr Wilson is being treated for Heartworms using Moxidectin. He is a jumping fool and was quite reactive though he is much better now. Because of this the Immeticide treatment is too risky. Duchess is new and hasn't been tested yet. She goes in to get spayed on the 6th and will be tested then. This morning they walked together. She has some minor food and resource guarding issues. People think Goldens are all happy go lucky but they are very intelligent and sensitive and often come to us with issues we help them handle.

We have entered the twilight zone. This morning while thawing bone gravy to make the kids heartworm preventative palatable, the microwave made a loud BZZZZZZZ and quit. Since then it has been a challenge to remember how we did things way back in the dark ages. I'm Currently trying to make myself some lunch sans microwave. On the other hand I ordered a new one online and it will be here Friday (supposedly) Oh and this picture is AI generated.

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day. Paw cleaned the grill and I thought we were going to have a BBQ but he harvested the Broccoli and ended up with so much he had it with melted cheese until it came out his ears. Don't get me wrong. I love cheese but not enough to eat that yucky green stuff. Here is a picture of me keeping Paw's chair warm for him. D**ky

My very first spring has been amazing! It is raining just enough to keep the puddles full and when I climb the wood pile mountain it feels like I am floating above a jungle! My new mom is coming to get me in a few weeks. I can hardly wait. D**ky

Kim and Alfonso took her to Dr. Carr to have her scanned for a chip, No Chip. Then they brought her here. She came in while everybody was inside eating their breakfast so it was fairly calm and quiet. I got her settled in and began her vetting with a vaccination, flea and tick stuff and offered her a meatball (with wormer hidden inside.) When I let the horde out there was lots of excitement but she took it all like a Queen. Im thinking she might be a Duchess but already has the nickname of ZaZa. Any other suggestions?

It is probably a little early but I want to put it out there that we are going to intake a Female Golden Retriever mix later today that was stray in Salem. If she is yours and you have proof of ownership, message me. We will have her scanned this morning for a chip and Ill post again
Update: She was scanned at Cedar Creek and no chip was found. She is now at Marley's World Dog Sanctuary

Still one of the sweetest pics. Kylee used to sit in front of the swing and watch Ella when she was a newborn. Now she likes her alone time. 😂 Ella can be loud sometimes and Kylee like her peace in her older age. I was looking back through old pics and Kylee is in 90% of them of Ella, I swear. Ms Sue and Lulu just came by for a visit. Lulu got a lot of cookies and Ms Sue got some cabbage and lettuce and onions. Ellie and Zoe were glad to see their old friend even though she smelled kind of funny! Lulu found some dirt and tried to get properly scented but Ms Sue promised to give her a bath when she got home.
