One Shot Retrievers Trainer Spotlight!!

Grant and Alex Huff both originated in East Texas where their love for dogs started at an early age. Grant has been hunting with his dogs since he was a kid and was a founding member of both the Rose Country Retriever Club and North East Texas HRC in 1997. He was heavily involved in the HRC Grand and has produced many Grand Champions for his clients over the years. Alex began duck hunting and training with her dogs while in college and shortly after began running them in AKC hunt tests. A passion for dogs quickly turned into a career. Both Alex and Grant have a love for helping their clients bring dogs to their highest potential, whether they are simply looking for an obedient pet or a high powered hunting companion. Each and every dog that comes through the kennels is trained by Grant and Alex from start to finish, ensuring that no steps in the training process are overlooked. One Shot Retrievers may have originated with a love for hunting dogs, but it has molded into a facility that also specializes in advanced obedience training with a wide variety of dog breeds. Grant and Alex enjoy teaching people how to set and maintain a high standard of obedience that gives them freedom from leashes and peace of mind. 6 weeks ago, “Dutch”, would just about pull your shoulder out of socket while walking on lead! After E-Collar conditioning, he is enjoyable and under control in the presence of distractions and completely free of any restraints. He will sit patiently while you open a door and allow his handler to pass through an entryway before he does. He will “kennel” on command and not leave his spot until he is told. Just a glimpse of what you will get once your dog comes home from obedience training with OSR. Good buy, Dutch!!

Luna!! This sweet little dog is 4 years old and her first lesson on obedience was just 4 weeks ago here at OSR. Old dogs CAN learn new tricks!

Jumping back onto a dog stand with a bumper or bird in mouth is a tough concept for some dogs at first, but after a few tries, “Aspen” has it all figured out!

Our obedience clients stressed to us how important it is that their dogs can load into a car on their own. This is easily taught with the “kennel” command. Every dog that comes through OSR learns this command and will know how to jump into a car before leaving our obedience program!

We specialize in training all breeds for advanced obedience and do gun dog and trial training with retrieving breeds.
