SAVE THE DATE!

The 2024 Elizabeth Stampede Community Rodeo, presented by the Elizabeth Locker Plant, is quickly approaching!

Friday, September 27th, we will kick off with barrel racing. The top ten contestants will be invited back to perform on Saturday during the rodeo.

Saturday, September 28th, we will have mutton bustin’ with a rough stock rodeo following at 7pm!

Attendant Alyssa Twitty is doing a fabulous job representing the ESR during the National Western Stock Show! Today she was able to hand out ribbons during the very prestigious, Draft Horse Show. She has been able to represent at so many things, and has even been asked if she lived in a castle! How many of you wished you lived in a castle?!

Mutton Busters!

🐑🤠Registration is officially open for Colorado’s largest Mutton Bustin’ competition happening this October at Rodeo All-Star!

Up to 900 cowpokes will compete in the Colorado Mutton Bustin’ Championships, an event created to highlight the youngest contestants in rodeo, the mutton busters!

What’s Mutton Bustin’?
Contestants will cling onto the back of a sheep, and ride down the rodeo arena floor. Similar to professional rodeo events, time and score count.

Who can register?
Kids ages 5-7, and under 55 pounds.

Fun Fact Friday

Did you know you can tell a horse's age by their teeth?

Well, it's a rough estimate because there are variables you have to account for. For instance, their development when they were young, environmental factors, nutrition, etc.

But there are landmarks that give little hints to indicate around how old they are.

Some of those are the shape of the tooth at the gum line, if there are cups present, the angle of their incisors, and Galvayn's groove.

These can help determine if they are younger or older and what age range they may be in.

For those of you who want to try out your knowledge, take a look at this horse in the picture. How old do you think this horse is?
And he has papers so we know exactly how old he is 😊
