Listen! Please listen to this tiktok... He asks whose responsibility this is.. Well it's Starry Night Stables responsibility! What he is talking about, well it's what we work everyday to prevent, educate on, and well fix.

When it feels like we maybe gate keeping your from owning horses... your not ready...when it feels like you should be up a level...your not ready... when you think its time to bring your horse home... we will always make sure your ready...

Horsemanship isnt easy, Mrs. Jamie waited until she was 26 and 20plus years deep into horses before she owned her own. (And she still had a lot to learn in that moment, plus she is still pushing myself to learn more now)
Mrs. Dani waited until she was 22 years old before owning her 1st horse and on a regular base looks back and says "if I knew then what I know now"

Owning horses is earned not given... you earn it the right way by learning with professionals like at Starry Night, slowly and correctly... Or you learn the hard way. This way can lead to trauma for a human, but at the sametime often leads to trauma on the horse.

Wanna know how we know?
Because one of the main jobs of Starry Nighy is to rehab, retrain and fix what inexperienced hands have made. Almost every horse on the property is the product of inexperience hands. Wanna know why we end up with them? Because not many people out there can and want to fix what lack of knowledge and bull headedness made.

We want you to enjoy horses, we want you to be a Rockstar in the arena, we want you to have wonderful memories, but only if these can be done with the health, soundness and saftey of the horse being done.

Consider this next time we tell you no, wait.
Consider this next time we tell you, your not ready.
Consider this next time we tell you if you want this you need to put more time into it.
We are not just watching your back... We are also watching out for the horse.

Something last night pulled me to this horse.

I knew deep down she wasnt happy, healthy and loved. She looked sad and deflated. I went back to her 3 times, checked all 4 feet and legs. Put my hands in her mouth (and yes I do believe she is early teens.) And looked at her eyes. It wasnt until the 3rd visit I got to see her without a saddle and her top line was trash and she was ribby. So going off that I put a plan together, got a budget from Gaited Advocate Intervention Team, Inc. 501c3 and went home.
I watch the whole auction live and hung out with my family. When she came up... no one wanted her.. She dropped to $500 and I jumped. Another person bid me to $1200 and I was going to stop... But I was like one more, we can fundraise. That did it I got her for $1300. After sales fees, taxes and coggins she was almost $1600.... I felt bad for going over budget. But I was happy she was safe.

Later that night I saw a comment on a GAIT post that someone thought they had seen this horse at the RSD auction in the fall. So I said... let me look... I found her ad... I found her being auctioned off in OCT!!!

That was what it took for me to know that we did 100% the right thing. I didnt take this horse from a kid, a family, or even a money troubled riding barn. I pulled this horse from a dealer taking her from auction to auction. This horse was in a vicious circle that would have pull her health and mind down with every movement.

I am 100% glad I did what I did. My guy told me to jump! If anyone can throw some financial aid this girl is gonna cost GAIT right around $2500 to get her even close to adoptable.

$1531.80 total to get her from Auction
Around $550 for vaccines, wormer, farrier, and floating of her teeth. (The possibility of bloodwork pending what vet has to say)
Around $300 for us to get good nutrition and weight back on her, some premium hay (Alfalfa) for the 1st month and Purina Ultium.

I am donating my time and my place to quarantine her to keep those expensives on GAIT low. But I'd love to help raise the rest of the funds for GAIT for her.

If you'd like to donate here is the link. Every dollar helps this girl to the happily ever after she deserves!

Once Upon a Dream

Jamie Holden Owner, Instructor & Trainer @ Starry Night Stables and Dani Forney Trainer, Instructor & Manger @ Starry Night Stables both had a dream many, many years ago of owning and operating their own horse farm. Where they could focus on equine basics, horsemanship, balance riding, and respect for the animal and the sport. They wanted to pass this along not only to the next generation of horse lovers, but anyone at any age with the want and desire only horses can pull out of people. With many attempts in various places and many horses trained, ridden and taught under there belt it was a matter of time before they found a place to call their own.

In 2016 that dream came true, with the purchase of Starry Night Stables by Jamie and her husband, soon after horses would enter the property (actually they where living on the property before Jamie & Ryan where). With that came the chance for them to start to teach everyone and anyone whom wanted to get a horsey fix. From the devoted to the fair weather rider, they teach them all. Starry Night continues to grow on determination, respect and pure hard work. With a new barn on it’s way, a redesign of the pastures and the ever changing foster horses, Starry Night will continue to shine and grow.

3 years of being open has seen clients come and go, riders work hard & become true horsemen/woman, and horses grow into champions. From blue ribbons in the ring to new experience at on the trail Starry Night grows every year with the coxing and dedication of Jamie & Dani.

After almost 20 years together Jamie & Dani are not going anywhere anytime soon. Together they will grow and teach their students what true horsemanship is all about, and in that process many horses will not only find and love good people, but will grow and be happy as a Starry Night horse!
