We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We are closed to celebrate with our families and loved ones. We will reopen tomorrow, November 29th at 8:00am. If you have an emergency, please contact VVC in Central Park or view our pinned post about ER Vets in the surrounding areas.

To help spread thankfulness this holiday week, we have a heart-warming story we’d like to share. One of our caring clients found a stray cat, or so they thought it was a stray. Upon bringing the cat into the clinic, Dr. Horricks scanned the patient to check for a microchip, turns out the kitty was microchipped! We were thankfully able to find the owner’s information based on the microchip number and registration, and the kitty was reunited with their family! The owner was overwhelmed with joy as their beloved pet had been missing for a month, the owner and her 6 children were thrilled to hear their cat had been found and was safe! Thankfully they had their cat microchipped as that was the only way we were able to find the cat’s family.
If you’ve ever considered getting your pet microchipped, we recommend doing so! If you have questions or would like to discuss having your pet microchipped, give us a call!

Thanksgiving is a week away! 🦃🍂

Generally, most vegetables are great treats for your pet, as long as they do not have too much butter, salt, or other seasonings. Mashed potatoes can be given as well as long as there is not too much milk/cream, butter, or any garlic. 🥕🥔🍠🌽🥦

Stuffing sounds like a great idea for your pets, but most recipes include onions, garlic, or raisins/currants, which are all toxic to pets. It’s best to limit all bread consumption, too many carbs can make them ill! 🚫🧄🧅🍞🥖🥐🥧🍖🍗🚫

Keep an eye out for sugar alternatives, especially xylitol (also called birch sugar). These ingredients are often in peanut butter and sugar free items!

If in doubt, avoid and/or thoroughly read any ingredient list! We know it’s hard to say no to sweet begging faces, but it’s best for them to avoid harmful foods, offer pet-friendly treats and snacks instead! 🦃🧡🐾

With the holidays quickly approaching, we wanted to share some information about emergency veterinary facilities in the surrounding area. Most of the facilities listed are open 24 hours, but we highly recommend calling before driving there as they are not immediately local to confirm hours, especially on holidays, and to make sure they are not at max capacity so they can help you and your pet. ❤️🐾

We’re open Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm, we know emergencies happen anytime and just wanted to help everyone have options incase these emergencies occur outside of our business hours!

Early detection and proper management are key to keeping your pet happy and healthy. 🐾

Your pet can show diabetic tendencies like excessive thirst, weight loss, and increased urination. If you notice any of these symptoms, give us a call to schedule a check-up! 💙

November is Senior Pet Health Awareness Month! This event is to help bring awareness about your senior pet’s health! Sometimes seniors need a little extra care and attention. 🩶

🐾 If your pet is older than 7 years old (depending on breed and size) they are typically considered a senior.
🐾 Just like humans, as pets get older they may experience certain ailments that younger pets don’t, such as arthritis, heart disease, dental issues, cancers, and kidney or liver disease.
🐾 If you have any concerns about your senior furry friend, call and ask to schedule a senior exam!
🐾 Also, consider adopting a senior pet from your local shelter! Senior pets are great companions, they are typically more docile compared to energetic puppies.

As we wrap up our Halloween spirit week shenanigans, we decided to prank one of our vet assistants, Evan. We told him we needed help moving a large dog while another assistant, Sydney, hid in the bag. The look on his face was priceless! Perhaps he’ll forgive us one day, it was done all in good fun after all 😂
